Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body (spirit, soul, etc.) leaving the physical body to travel in an astral plane, or wandering around the mortal plane. In some variants the spirit may only watch, others can communicate or even interact with their environment, up to fully looking like any physical body, except for the usual limitations of ghosts (can't go into water, may interfere with electric waves, etc.).
