Trait: Guimpe
Traits > Clothes > Upper Body Clothing > Guimpe
A guimpe is a linen cloth, often starched, which covers the neck and shoulders of the wearer, sometimes the entire chest as well. It had been in common use among women of means throughout most of the Middle Ages but gradually fell out of fashion by the Renaissance. Its use persists to the present day among certain orders of nuns, who use it as part of their religious habit.
