This character has a mean personality. They may be mean to specific people or everyone they interact with. Their meanness might be in the form of vile or nasty language, a general unpleasant disposition, malicious pranks or even physical violence. Characters might use meanness as a defence, be misunderstood or may simply enjoy being mean.

Unlike Cruel characters, mean characters might feel remorse for their actions, may not intend their actions to cause harm and may not enjoy the suffering of others. A child is sometimes mean to people they like because don't understand their feelings, are shy or afraid of being rejected or embarrassed. Their actions do not often rise to the level of cruelty.
