I was a fan of Hanasaki Worksprings, so I decided to read this one since I didn't get to read Floral Flowlove. I can say that the ending was worth it, even if some routes weren't up to par. That being said, if you aren't willing to read all of them (due to locked playing order), it might be dull.

In the order of how I've read it and how I viewed them:

Heroina: 5/10 - I've always had a soft spot of knight-type heroines, and while there were cute moments, there was nothing amazing about it. It felt like a repeat of Kanna's route from Hanasaki Workspring. While the route goes into her true relationship to Sylvia, it doesn't go into details about Ouro's previous school life.

Reina: 7/10 - While the circumstances leading to the confession was random as heck, I thought the dynamic between Ouro and Reina was cute. I thought the possibility for pregnancy was interesting if it did actually happen. This route had the heaviest focus on Ouro's previous school life, so it was nice for him to be able to resolve it unlike the other routes where it's more of a background thing.

Akane: 3/10 - This is the shortest route, and the story is very lacking as a result. It felt like a random add-on route just for Akane, which is a shame. There was no real hurdle to solve at all.

Sylvia: 6/10 - This route put a lot of misunderstandings between Ouro and Sylvia, so all you feel is exasperation that they're missing the point.

Ria: 9/10 - The final route, and the most emotional one. I don't think any of the routes can compare to this, and it's not just because Ria died. I feel like this is the culmination of this entire visual novel, and that it makes or breaks it. Without it, I would've rated this visual novel really low, so there's something to be said about how lacking everything is if it's hinges so much on this.

In my opinion, Ria is the best heroine. Throughout the other routes, you can see step in to help Ouro in her own way, and that pushed me into reading faster to get to this route. When you find out her condition, you realize how much it meant Ouro and Sylvia meant to her. The moment when she cracks and admits that she loved Ouro for the longest time was amazing because she begins to see how much scarier death is.

Conclusion: If you don't think you can make it through the first four routes, and you're not a fan of Ria from those routes, this VN is probably not worth reading for you.

Edit: @2 was right, reformatted it better and gave a bit more critical thought.Last modified on 2018-01-11 at 12:41

A review that consists entirely of spoilers defeats its own purpose, which is to help others decide if they would like to play the game. I'd rather not be spoiled just to find out it's a work I might be interested in. Perhaps not everything you've written needs spoiler tags and can be "declassified". Just a thought.

I like how Ria didn't like a certain kind of story and ended up being in exactly that story herself. So meta.

This game is honestly one of the games with the most wasted potential that I know. There was a lot it could've been, but ultimately it just didn't do the important things. Mostly Reina's and Ria's route are hit by that. The other routes... well. I don't like knight girls, and the main heroine's route doesn't work, at all, if you don't like her the most of the cast. So I can't judge those very well.Last modified on 2018-01-10 at 13:00

@2, You're right, I hope this is better.

@3, I do agree with you. This game felt a bit lopsided.

@1, it looks like you covered more than you intended to? One part is literally /spoiler] so there's some broken code.

@5 Thanks, it should be fixed now.

Could anyone who's played this game comment on the soundtrack? Hatsuyuki Sakura had one of my favorite OSTs so I always try to keep an eye out for stuff by the same people. Unfortunately I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to the game so I'm not sure when I'll be able to hear it for myself.

Nothing from the soundtrack stood out to me, unfortunately.

@7: If it's by the same people, you'll probably like it to an extend.
I felt like the OST was nice, though once you heard a song twice or so, it was just "there". Nothing really special. But taste and so on is different anyway.

The OP is the best thing out of the soundtrack.
