Sengoku KoihimeX was my first Baseson game and I really enjoy the constant harem aspect of it.(heroines openly displaying their affection for protagonist in front of others and even some jealousy)
Is the same atmosphere present here or is it Eushully style "romance only happened inside their substories" type ?Last modified on 2018-02-24 at 04:19

They're both harems but the atmosphere is pretty different.
I have to say that Sengoku Koihime actually has one of the most pleasant harems of any eroge I played. I'm not even sure how to describe it but it just feels... warm you know? There's almost none of that annoying "Hahaha I almost killed you because I'm angry isn't that hillarious hahaha" bullshit you find in Koihime Musou. I wonder if the fact that it was originally all-ages has something to do with that. Like they wanted to make up for the lack of sex with an overall strong emotional bond.
This thread was made on the Gi version which in particular has the least harem feel of all the Shin Koihime factions. There's barely any romance on the main story line with the exception of one obvious character and even in the character specific stories the romance is for the most part limited to that specific character. The games are opposite in the sense that in Koihime Musou it feels like the character arcs are separated from the main-story and the game proceeds like they never happened, whereas in Sengoku Koihime it feels like the main story automatically assumes everything in the sub-character events happened even if you yourself skip them. It's actually kind of jarring since you can take one character to the end of their storyline where you build a strong relationship but then you go back to the main story and suddenly she still hates being around you lol.
The Shoku route will probably be the one that feels the closest to Sengoku in atmosphere but even then if they don't make any significant changes from the original Shin Koihime storyline it's just not really the same(though incidentally it was by far the least well-received route of the original game so it's probably the one with the highest chance of being significantly different)
The exception to this is the after-story fandiscs they released that feel like they take place in an alternate future where it seems like almost every character just suddenly likes him. But those aren't very fulfilling to play on their own(or honestly even after the original games either...)
Anyway, if you go into it with the expectation of something like Sengoku Koihime, you'll probably be disappointed imo.Last modified on 2018-02-24 at 04:33

Thanks for the detailed information.
Totally agreed with your view of Sengoku Kohime(SK). Really enjoyed that harem. At first, I started SK to ease my frustration on "harem but there is OTP - Oda Nobuna no Yabou" LN(which is one of my favorites) but now I am enjoying SK more.
That's why I am thinking maybe this one can continue to fill my harem desire. But look like koihime series isn't that type. Sad.

I can totally relate to this. AFTER you complete Eika's substories, the next chapter I think, she treats Kazuto coldly like way she always did and that's kinda of a bummer. There are some heroines in every route that are warm to/have feelings the for the protagonist since the beginning like Gi's Kii, Ruru, Maou, Nagi, Sawa and Shanfu so their behavior doesn't change much so in their case it's not so noticeable.
But even so, in the end of the day, the events are just side-stories, and usually are like they never happened . I think that's because the system they made that limits the number of events you can play per "turn", but Sengoku Koihime's system is way better as you don't need to play the game all over again just so play the events you didn't see before because the game itself limits the number of events. But even so, the story itself is great and I recommend. Like #2 said, because of Karin and the other main heroines of Gi's route personalities, there isn't that much of "happy harem" stuff, that's way more present in the Go's route(at least in the Shin Koihime series, the Kakumei's version of Go was totally revised and had major plot changes, according to official site), Shoku's route (but basically is a competition for Kazuto's love) and the fandisks(these probably have the atmosphere that you're looking for, but without the main story it's not that interesting).Last modified on 2018-02-24 at 15:33
