< report >So, who played - is this a remake or a new verison? Looks interesting. I think it deserves translation in English by English localizing companies such as MangaGamer, JAST and others. Although they translate now such silly novels... Shame.

And maybe who already played - any info will there be an English translation? I know there is already translation of a previous version, but this looks amazing, characters and art as a whole.

Can somebody give H-code please? Thanks!!Last modified on 2018-04-10 at 22:21

< report >Aside from the new art, sprites, voice acting, and additional scenario, the content itself is identical to the older versions of the VN, so I doubt any one would be interested in localizing it, considering Spike Chunsoft/Aksys translated it as Banshee's Last Cry on iOS years ago.

If you want to experience an English version of this, you're better off playing the iOS version.Last modified on 2018-04-10 at 23:01

< report >Who is interested by mobage anyway? If the script is the same, isn't that an even better argument for Spike Chunsoft to release it on windows/PSV while cutting costs? Seriously, look at the mobage version, it looks like a pretext for the team to get a vacation just so they can take pics of snow and cabins. It has zero appeal compared to Rinne Saisei made with regular anime style art.

< report >It's really good, I honestly couldn't imagine playing the original due to the lack of voices and sprites.

< report >Agree, I know it was translated to English in iOS, but as already said there is no sprites and voices, only images of the background. I really think in needs a proper English translation, many people will buy it. And preferrably on PC. Aso PS Vita OP is cool! PC opening I don't like.Last modified on 2018-04-11 at 12:07

The translation is incredibly bad to the point it's not even the same game. It doesn't read well at all, it's full of errors and it's literally an awful rewrite hidden as a "localization". The remake would have to be completely re-translated from scratch when localized.

Anyway, Spike Chunsoft will probably pick it up sometime after they're done with the SciADV localizations. They localized that YU-NO remake as well as 428, so it's very likely they will pick Kamaitachi no Yoru soon.Last modified on 2020-09-11 at 17:40

< report >I just beg them to inject their translation inside the original version. If it's the same script, it should only be a matter of hacking. Probably not an easy feat.

That or PS1/PS2 which adds QoL and improved graphics without weebifying the whole thing to shit. I'm thankful that there's a TL and I understand why they'd go for the only PC version, but man, I really do hope someone injects the TL elsewhere.

< report >judging by the screenshots in the main page, the best version by far seems to be the SNES/PS1 one; the PC and Mobile ones seem so tasteless. i always felt really interested by kamaitachi ever since i learned about it so i still really hope to play it translated with one of the releases that don't ruin a lot of its charm

< report >From their FAQ:
Q:This art sucks. The SNES version was way better, fam.

A: That wasn’t really a question, but we’ll answer it anyway.

Know what? We kinda agree. Silhouettes over sprites any day. Our favorite version, hands down, is the PS1 port — a higher-res version of the SNES original, but with tons of QoL updates. We’re not ROM hackers, though, so we went with the version that was within our wheelhouse: the Windows port of Rinne Saisei. Plus, it’s the most content-complete of the bunch. If you crave every last scrap of Kamaitachi, this is probably the one you want.

That said, the possibility of adding original SNES/PS1 graphics to the patch as an option has been discussed. It would be a lot of work, mind you. But anything could happen…

Q: Are you planning to patch the Vita/PS1/SNES versions?

A: No. But if another team wanted to tackle that using our assets, we’d be happy to talk to them.

Someone open a thread on romhacking.

Yeah I saw, someone needs to get to work on that PS1 version. I'm thinking of caving and just playing Rinne Saisei but if there's a slight bit of hope for PS1 then I'll wait patiently.

< report >Already been addressed. Go to their website. And, frankly, the voice acting and the Abo OST makes up for the weebification, having actually played the game now.
