Hello Beliar, I saw that you undid my photo submissions for several visual novels. I obtained the screenshots directly from the store page of steam. If upscaling/downscaling the resolution photos is not allowed, how can I submit the photos to the VNDB page?

Indeed, it's not encouraged to take photos from websites, as they are frequently in the wrong resolution. Upscaling/downscaling is explicitly not allowed in our guidelines. The only instance where the downscaling is allowed is when the VN resolution exceeds 1920x1080, as not many people own larger gaming monitors.

It's always the best option to take the screens yourself by employing one of the methods listed in d13. Additionally, some VN engines allow taking screencaps internally (Ren'Py, for example, uses the S key for that purpose). You still need to be vigilant, as on many engines both external programs and internal functions take the screens at different resolutions based on whether you play in windowed mode or fullscreen.

In other words, check the resolution field in the release entry, as a hard guideline for what res your screenshots should be.

I downloaded IrfanView and it still gives me wonky screenshots (Please look at my photos of Onna Kaitou and anime studio simulator). Why aren't they in a neat format? I followed the instructions perfectly.

Because I'm pretty sure you are taking the screens while the game is in fullscreen mode. Majority of the games must be in windowed mode in order to take the correct screens.

I do not have it open in full mode. I open Cat Girl.exe, the game takes up a fourth of my screen. I do not touch it.I execute Infran. I get that ugly pixel size.

I... really have no idea why it works like that for you. If it only takes the forth of your screen, like it should, then how can it take screenshots in such a ridiculous resolution? Irfanview definitely doesn't behave like that for me.
