For several months, this VN's status on MangaGamer has only remained "Picked Up!" AKA 0%. Every other VN by MangaGamer has been worked on except this one, why? It's within 2-10 hours so it shouldn't take as long other ones that are being translated at a faster pace and do not say "Picked Up!". I even asked the publisher what the status was and their only reply was ambiguous but a general "We'll let you know soon".

idk I just want my eroge

I don't know who the translator is, but if it's Good Haro, then maybe she just hasn't found the time to translate it. Though, stalling a 2-10 hr vn for a year is pretty terrible.

I don't care about this VN, but the fact that this is a short VN announced a year ago with no progress updates is easy to understand the frustration.

I don't mind the fujo-pandering to be procrastinated, seeing as Mangagamer is going down that route.
Before any of that stuff gets translated and edited, it would be far more interesting to see what takes them 2 years finishing up Bokuten while it being on 100%...

Bokuten has been 100% for that long? Wow. Seems like the only thing MangaGamer translates quickly is yuri. Sisterly Bliss was announced recently and that 2-10 hour game was finished in 2 or 3 months.

#5 Their gameplay titles also seem to go really quickly; although that may be more because of Arunaru than anything else.Last modified on 2018-08-11 at 23:34

@4 Generally, they can get out a title in about 1-2 years, but there are a handful of titles that end up getting the short end of the stick.

Sisterly Bliss was fully translated for at least a year prior to the announcement. Remember it was a fan translation patch that MG picked up.

I think they only picked this up to sell merchandise. I never attended any of the conventions, but in photos I always spot the Room No. 9 dakimakuras along with NTY merch.

I don't remember them having so many titles at 100%/100% at the same time, like this. I mean, 9 titles! And many just behind. Their schedule is literally clogged. Now, some have privileges (short nukige, Rancegarbage) which are allowing them to cheat but I don't think Room No. 9 is one of them.

100% tl'd and edited
Suki Suki
Sengoku Rance
Bitter Exclusion
Steam Prison
Farther than the Sky (mentioned at the panel)
Koropukkur (Sort of counts. Release in September according to the Otakon panel IIRC.)

Almost 100% translated or 100% translated with incomplete editing
Maggot Baits
Amatarasu Riddle Star
Kyonyuu Fantasy 2
Rance Quest Magnum
Rance IX

At least 50% tl'd

None of the above (discounting Escalayer and Kotonoha Amrilato because they haven't been mentioned in a project update or have had their progress mentioned otherwise)

Room No. 9 (unknown)
Luckydog1 (unknown)
Rance X (yeah, not getting released before Rance IX)
Fxxx me Royally (4%)

tl;dr BL fans are getting the short end of the stick, kek, but at least you have Hashihime.Last modified on 2018-08-11 at 23:48

#8 i'm an idiot

#10 I assume the nukige aren't high priority, and Rance requires working through Alice Soft's programming fuckery. That said, with my amazing predictive talents, I'd expect Steam Prison in October, and Sengoku around November or December.Last modified on 2018-08-12 at 00:17

Luckydog is using the web-based translation, which is almost complete (just a few scenes left in one route), so most of the work is going to be programming (they listed Mac/Linux compatibility so I assume they're porting it to Ren'Py).

Even so #11, Hashihime has been 100% since November, where I first discovered MangaGamer. How do you know the freelancers and translators so well for these VNs? MG never talks about them.

Does Room no. 9 have any freelance translators?

@14 vndb records all fan translations, barring unofficial machine translations that translate more than just the interface. In any case, no, Room No. 9 has had no previous translation from a freelancer.
