What's the deal with this ending? I know that she is the sailor's daughter, but after finishing the whole novel, I'm confused on who she is. Is it related to another visaul novel? Wtf is the Artifical Resonator Project? Who's Akatsuki and Eri? Was this just a Red herring to confuse the reader?

I didn't even catch that she's the sailor's daughter. it's probably a dlc thing assuming it sold well. there's also 1 ending that confuses me too, the one where setsuna is watching over a presumably 4 year old rinneLast modified on 2018-09-08 at 05:06

At first I thought that the “4 year old Rinne” is the daughter of setsuna and Rinne, but that wouldn’t make sense because neither setsuna or Rinne carries the disease gene.

It was mentioned towards the very end of the true route about how setsuna got along well with the sailor’s daughter and how she mistakened setsuna for someone else. Momoka also seemed to know herLast modified on 2018-09-10 at 14:58

before you even go there, the much better question to ask is when did this happen?

I thought it happened after you made the branching choice?

I mean that the 4 year old kid is not Rinne because Rinne doesn't have the genetic disposition to develop the disease, while the 4 year old Rinne is beginning to show signs of recessive disease(Slow onset).Last modified on 2018-09-10 at 14:58

then who is that... kid? anyway, too many loose threads that completely broke my immersion to the point of no longer caring the VN.

lol, that's my question. My assumption is that the 4 year old child is the daughter of Setsuna and Rinne. She got a bruise that looks like the disease, and because of the choice you made, Rinne still has fear of the disease, so Setsuna is trying to hide anything that looks like signs of the disease.

That 4 year old kid is the daughter of Rinne and Setsuna that died on that island. Rinne is already pregnant at the start of the game(I read it somewhere). Or the black mark she has(soot blight syndrome) is red herring and father is the protagonist.Last modified on 2018-09-11 at 15:42

If she was pregnant then it would make sense what Noramasa saw and why he went into a rage when he saw them together in the hut.

Was this the only thing which made you confused? There at least five major plot holes in the story and almost all mysteries don't have proper conclusion and answer which makes sense. This is very obvious what last parts of the game was rushed.

This ending most likely was designed to give us a glimpse on "true answers", but unfortunately we never get them. Hell, we don't even know who the fuck is Setsuna is, because author tells us what he is not Setsuna from Rinne's childhood and we don't know how then he could have his memories, living inside the time loop without getting older, his origin, etc.

At least this ending make more sense compared to last "true end".

BTW imho true route was close to masterpiece until later parts of the Winter arc and then everything become rushed and incomplete.Last modified on 2018-09-13 at 12:52

gotta agree though, winter arc was trash. the entire thing was just a way of saying setsuna and rinne ship will never sail. or at least it will only sail in a loop.Last modified on 2018-09-13 at 13:04

@13 Beginning of Winter arc was the best part of the game imho and music created perfect atmosphere, but last 1/3 or 1/4 of the arc become rushed and author just killed everyone without making it dramatic enough as if this wasn't really important and then after Setsuna returned to his own time things were rushed as well, moreover without proper explanation for everything what we seen in earlier Karen, Sara and Rinne routes.

I think that the soot blight syndrome in the little girl was a red herring to try and trick the reader into thinking that Setsuna and Rinne were related by blood because of the legend where the origin of the syndrome is a curse cast upon them for their sin (of incest)

Of course by the end of the game we learn that they are actually related by blood so it could be that there are more variants of the syndrome, one that only activates when blood-related individuals that carry the inactive syndrome have a child
