How is this site still up?

It's been eleven years of this site going strong and I always end up wondering, "How do they keep this site up?"
Is the domain and server hosting extremely cheap? Because although I don't run adblocker on this site I never see any ads whatsoever. The only thing I can think of is that the Devs run the website off their earnings elsewhere because I haven't even found a way to donate.
Can anyone shed some light on this question for me?

Not much has changed since t4216.

Hosting costs are still around 50 €/month, but those costs are shared with a bunch of other sites on the same server. I don't really know if the affiliate links still earn enough - I think they do, I simply rarely check. And in any case it doesn't matter much, it's cheap enough that I can easily cover the costs.

#5 What the admins do with the site has nothing to do with how the community works, which krykry was (likely) refering to.
If not, feel free to correct me.

Well, if Yorhel didn't founded the database in the first place, the community can't contribute even if we wants to right?

So you cling to the ''He opened the site!'' argument.
Everyone who visits the internet can open a website.
That still doesn't change how the users here interact with each other.

Quite frankly, krykry is perfectly right with what he said, even if it's a bold statement to make.
But that's another can of worms.

Look, I know that it was more of a meme shitpost, but, no if we actually want to argue on that, he wasn't right. You don't have to be autistic to be a regular contributor. The site runs becaue Yorhel made it, keeps it updated and runs it out of his pocket. The site actually functions as is because of the contributions of thee community. We need both ends. Arguing about which is more necessary is like arguing which leg of a three legged chair is more important.
