Can I replace the screenshots with English ones from the Scarlet Study patch?

There is really zero reason to replace perfectly good existing screens with ones in a different language. While we currently have no rule that prevents it, maybe we actually should add one, as there have recently been a few edit skirmishes over the screens.

how about replacing _some_ of them? For variety?

I would understand replacing some of the screenshots with ones from a different platform, or a newer remastered version of the game, but replacing them just because of the different language? No, not convinced. Unless you intend to add Android screens with the currently existing 3DS screens....

I have screenshots from the Android version of our fan translation. I'm going out on a limb here and theorize that most users of this site are more fluent in English than they are in Japanese, so one could argue about accessibility...

You mean to tell us that indicating the TL quality is no reason, huh?

Huh, I thought there was something in the FAQ about preferring English screenshots over other languages, but it just says "Screenshots should preferably be of the English or original (Japanese) releases. Other languages are allowed, but the number of images should be kept to a minimum." -- not which should be preferred in the case of English translation vs. (Japanese) original.

Personally I think, since this is an English-language site, it makes sense to replace Japanese screenshots with English ones, provided that a) the screenshots are similarly representative (i.e. not just from the first 30 seconds of the game because you rushed to replace screenshots and haven't played further), and b) doesn't cause edit wars. But that's just my opinion, and it'd probably be good for the FAQ to be clarified one way or the other.

I agree with Minah.

By far the most important part of the screenshots is that they're representative and that they show different aspects of the game. Whether they're from a Japanese or English release is not very relevant, so the guidelines don't make a clear statement on that.

I'm generally fine with replacing some Japanese screenshots with English ones, as long as the quality & variety aspect remains.
