h-scenes actually part of game or in menus

< report >I know, right?
I don't mind when there are extra, unlockable scenes from the menu, but I want at least one of them to be in the story.

< report >I don't. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. This game is a good example of where it simply doesn't fit to have every heroine get one scene in the story. And I just finished a game, where the "one scene per girl" was forced into the story, and it was awful.
Yeah, no thanks.

< report >@3 if it doesn't fit, then how about not having them instead of half assing them then. Genius idea I'm sure. OP never mentioned anything about liking non fitting h-scenes, you made that up. All I got from this is that he likes story fitting h-scenes instead of half assed unlockable ones.Last modified on 2019-02-23 at 20:46

< report >I like that feature, as Kiru says they more oftem than not are shoehorned into the story and it makes the whole relationship suffer for it.
With the menu system, it allows the devs to develop the story naturally and then shoehorn such scenes in a different menu. Then you can decide wether they are canon or not.
Nukiges are another story of course.

< report >#6 Or you can have a version that is with H scenes that are naturally in the story, and a version suitable for all ages. If anything, the h-scenes dont fit are just shoved in there if they are just some "what if" scenarios in a menu rather than the game. That comes off as much more "fap material" than having the scenes actually in the game.Last modified on 2019-02-24 at 00:50

< report >That would imply that these games just dont have H-scenes in order to sell their game instead of being developed as part of their game's vision.
And thats likely not going to change (Much less now that safe ideas are the ones that sell) for a good while so i welcome this approach in the meantime.

< report >The tag people apply for this is Only Avoidable Sexual Content. One user voted it +2 on this game, another afterwards voted it -1 to bring the average to 0.5. Why only -1, I wonder? Either it has it or it doesn't.

On a related note, I think we have room for a more specific tag. "Menu-Accessible H-Scenes Only"?Last modified on 2019-02-25 at 10:02

< report >@7: Sometimes the story isn't suited for having the adult content in the story. And this is one of those cases. Going full all-ages is simply not working well.

That said, we all know this split happened, because that was an easy way for the steam version + adult patch idea. Campus basically does this all the time with their games as well, as you can play the story for free. They don't put the scenes into the menu though, but rather make a bloated "after story" without any story and basically just as an excuse of the adult content. It's kind of even worse, but paying as much as you do for their games and getting basically just a bunch of menu scenes would be weird. The adult patches for the Steam aimed games are cheaper, as you have to buy the main game as well.

In theory however, doing a more all-ages approach of the main story is not necessarily a bad idea. Forcing every route to be like that however is dumb again. Not every route may work well with adult content, but some most definitely do. Unfortunately, VNs are still largely made with a quota idea. Every route and heroine has to have the exact same content. If one girl has 2 adult scenes with 2 cg each, every girl will have 4 cg for their adult scenes in their route, which are very commonly distributed into 2 scenes as well. Even though unlocked omakes get more and more common, the idea to strip the quota for the routes wasn't thought about yet, or so it seems.

< report >Hi there!

There are two things I am unsure about, I hope someone can clarify them for me.
So, first, are the H-Scenes inbedded in the main story or only accessible at a certain point in the story from the main menu?

Secondly, are the patches mosaic free? I'm asking because the pictures on VNDB are mosaic-free, but on the seller's page they are with mosaic? What's up with thta?

Thanks in advance! ;-)Last modified on 2020-04-29 at 09:40

From what I can see the mosaic-free uncensor patch was only available to backers. Looking at the mosaic-free pics here on VNDB I'd say that you're not missing much (go for the JP uncensor, mosaics+imagination >> shitty uncensor). It's possible that someone on VNDB backed it and uploaded the mosaic-free pics. The only way to get them now would be through torrents if I had to guess.

< report >Two months later.. can someone please tell me, whether the h-scenes are truly "only avoidable" or if they are part of the actual game flow? (Not saying it is good or bad thing, I just want to know.)Last modified on 2020-06-27 at 10:19

< report >I just finished Corona Blossom.

Each volume offers 3 h-scenes. They can be accessed from the menu from the get go. They have nothing to do with the main story. They are 'what-if scenarios'. Otherwise they wouldn't make any sense, nor would the main story. Hence, they are truly 'only avoidable'. If you don't want to read them and only want the original (? - I guess quite a few CGs will look different without the +18 patch installed.) CG variations in the main game, then don't read them. If you don't care for altered variations, then don't install the patch at all.
