< report >Depends...
How good is the game really? I have a budget and I can't buy everything.
Btw what's up with the voices? Like if you buy the MG version you get a version without voices?

< report >They said that they'll release a voice patch or something when they hit that 2000 quota. Until then, no voices.

As for "how good" this is, there's still the demo version to try it out. I really can't say for myself since I still have Osadai to finish.

< report >Hmm it does look promising. 50+ hours for €35. And i'm sure that the profit goes to other projects. I think i might pick this one up.
If they don't reach the 2000 i could always rip the voice of the japanese version.

< report >@#4
MangaGamer ports most of the games they licensed to their own shitty engine, so I'm not sure if making an unofficial voice patch will be as simple as ripping the voices from the Japanese version. My advice is to wait for them to sell those 2000 units and get the game when they actually add the voices. Otherwise, those 50+ hours are going to be awfully quiet. Unless you like to play a 50+ hours game AGAIN just to hear the voices...

As for myself, I have no interest in this game and I hate MangaGamer with a passion, so to answer the question: No, I will not buy it, nor will I pirate it.

< report >I may buy it. But do you think that there is a censor patch out there somewhere for it? I honestly can't stand the uncensored stuff, it looks either grotesque or too plain to me so I'd rather leave it up to my imagination.

My advice is to buy it immediately and wait for a voice patch before playing it. Otherwise there won't be a voice patch in the first place. >_>

< report >@aza, you're totally right. I hope there is an censor patch for it.

@Surfer, well if everyone is waiting for the patch, it will never reach the 2000. I've been pirating games for over 5 years. I even have an xbox live gamerscore of 12000 without ever buying a game. I think it's time for me to atone for my sins by buying one game. At least i help the people who want a voice patch with it xD

< report >Agreed with yorhel.
And it looks like 0.1% of the quota has been filled in this thread already. I wish there were a place where you could see how many games they've sold. So if you see it's like 1950/2000 you may buy the game just for the heck of it. But yeah, that's just me.

I hope for a voice patch before the end of April (2 months), do you think it's doable?

< report >That's true, and there's loads of people buying it without announcing it at all. But I'm kinda excited, I've been wondering about sales and stuff like that for a while... how many do they sell? How long does it take for them to sell x amount? Which genre is the most popular?
Questions like that, and now it looks like I'll get to know the answer of "How long does it take to sell 2000 copies of the English Koihime Musou?".

< report >The problem probably is that there is no advertisement for this. That's why it might take long. Still 2000 isn't that much. Now this isn't the most popular game but we'll see how many months this will take. I'm in.

I'm probably going to buy it, may as well support MG so there'll be more translated VN's in the future...Last modified on 2011-02-28 at 16:29

< report >There's no official advertisement, true. But unofficial? Oh yes. I know one person who created a bot in a game to advertise for this and that was running for days without breaks so at least someone had to be interested.
Myself I've been advertising it a bit on other forums as well as having a link to their site as a forum signature so there's got to be some people that way too. So if I were to say it myself there definitely exists advertisement.

Looks like it's up to 0.2% now.

< report >1. I hate MG after playing DC 2
2. I'm in pinch this month
3. Demonbane will be released next month
4. The game looks like a rip-off of Rance

You know what I'll do.

< report >@6: You are clearly living in the past. Mangagamer gave up on their "we port everything on our engine" quite a while ago.

-Also, of course there will be a voice patch... if it is somehow possible, which it seems to be.

-@14 and 15: Apparently 2000copies aren't normal for MG, why else do you think they'd need to do something like that?

-@17: I wouldn't call it a Rance rip-off. Alice Soft and Baseson are a bit too different for that. (e.g. the rape part) Just because it's somewhat strategy and has the same "goal" it's not a ripoff. It's a common scenario which has a quite a few games using it.Last modified on 2011-02-28 at 16:55

< report >Saberger, if you don't even know the game, don't say, it's not a good one.

MangaGamer is one of the few western companies which releases VNs outside of Japan, would you bet on the off chance that a translator group picks the titles you want to play if you can ditch MG? Why don't you dislike Jast then?Last modified on 2011-02-28 at 16:59

< report >Actually, saberger doesn't bs Koihime, he's merely stating that he doesn't like MG and the he think the game LOOKS like a ripoff, not that it is one.

Demonbane next month? looks like I have something to add to my list there. One of the very few games which has something to do with Cthulhu, which is basically the only reason I look forward to it.Last modified on 2011-02-28 at 17:01

Sorry to disappoint you. I hate both of them....... Problem?

Alice Soft and Baseson are a bit too different for that. (e.g. the rape part)

it's somewhat strategy and has the same "goal"

A boy from another era was taken back to the past where people fighting with each other. He follow one's side and help them to conquer the land. He has sex with various heroines in the game. The scenario sounds more like a rip-off than original for me.

Should be noted that the last Rance game came out in 2006, this came out in 2007.

Actually, saberger doesn't bs Koihime, he's merely stating that he doesn't like MG and the he think the game LOOKS like a ripoff, not that it is one.

Why, thank you. It's good to have someone understand me.

If, only if they didn't force the whole 2000 copies down my throat, maybe, just maybe, I consider buying it for the sake of "supporting" ( 2 percent of that). Now, I rest my case both in this game and MG.

That's what I mean with "It's a common scenario which has a quite a few games using it." It's not just games, though obviously the sex part is missing in others. Common scenario. Too common to call something a ripoff. It's like saying "it takes place in a school, so it's a ripoff". :)

I don't know how the gameplay of those two games are like, but that and the characters are the only points which could make it a ripoff. (imo of course)

I still think there would've been better choices to go with, given that the anime is more of an anti-advertisement, but I don't think it's a terrible game, if you like sex. (I doubt you play this for the... uh.. story. This is similar to Rance I guess?)Last modified on 2011-02-28 at 17:45

Well, it's different. You must admit, that the scenarios have so many similarities. While in reality, can't say that it is a rip-off, but it is just to see it as a rip-off.

but I don't think it's a terrible game, if you like sex. (I doubt you play this for the... uh.. story. This is similar to Rance I guess?)

I played Rance while I had absolute no knowledge about VNs, but after playing it: Er, you speak the truth, Sage!
