I'm willing to bet that this line was not in the original Japanese version and was added purely because the translator thought it would be funny. As someone who is part Chinese I don't really appreciate a character making an 'all asian cultures are the same' joke and I'm sure the original developers wouldn't appreciate it either.Last modified on 2019-06-03 at 22:52

< report >Its a meme like 4chan is a "Vietnamese silk waving forum".
Also i think japanese still have a grudge with the chinese just like they do with western gaijins.

< report >Oh, you people. ;D

I was expecting something along the lines of "I've seen one of them, so I've seen them all." but jeezuz.
Don't get me wrong, though; I feel you - as a Linux user, I know powerpoint can be quite offensive.

< report >It's not racist, it's a joke made at the expense of the condescending ignorami we all but you met once in our life.
However, I doubt a Japanese will make this kind of fail but, hey, the memer the merrier.

< report >#1 i agree with you, even if that meme is trend in english speaker reader but it doesn't mean it is what the writer want to read. If the translator translate like that, it will make that the writer give racism to his own vn no matter how you see it

< report >Describing eroge as 紙芝居 is a common thing among people that try to be condescending to them so seeing that line with absolutely no knowledge to the original context, I assumed that the original used that hence calling them power points, and the rest was just dressing added to the line that fits the overall condescending demeanor.

Out of curiosity I checked to see how close I was and I was actually completely off the mark. It was just エロゲ、ですか? So yeah there was no negative tone and I guess it was just randomly added, oh well.

On a different note, she uses ノーチェンジ in that conversation which the translator translates as "I will not change my ways" showing that he probably has no idea what that's even referring to. Granted it's not something that an English audience is likely to understand anyway so you could argue it's different on purpose, but you could come up with something a bit more creative that that while you're at it.

Albeit I guess I can relate to giving 0 fucks while translating a game you don't care about. Personally I'd feel too guilty to get a paycheck for that though(after the 1st time doing it, anyway...)Last modified on 2019-06-03 at 05:45

This made me question my understanding of "ノーチェンジ", since I don't see how you go from talking about eroge to prostitution slang... But it seems to be a random comedy VN, so I guess it's possible...?
That said, translating English words written in katakana is always a nightmare. This shit never means the same thing as in English. XD

< report >It's before eroge comes up. It makes sense in context.

Well, as much sense as a girl tackling you and immediately talking about hardcore fucking makesLast modified on 2019-06-03 at 18:25

< report >I don't see any value in keeping this thread open any longer. We already have a thread dedicated to the translation of this title t12405, and this one serves no purpose other than to end up as a potential dumpster fire. Dropping a flamebaity statement and leaving the thread is usually not a good way to foster a meaningful conversation.
