So this is the second time ive gotten through the prologue. I already want to drop it. Theguide makes it seem like a spider web of infuriation. My previous attempt i lost becayse i tried the crystal save because of course i wanted to check it out. Turns out that ruined that save completely.

Its a point and click and my god is that just the worst. The jumping around time is only gonna make that even more soul sapping. The crystal system makes little sense and the fact its always on screen is basically a red zone that if you accidentally click it before your suppose to it ruins the save.

The remake isnt gonna be good as it removes al the H scenes and referances so...you know changes the story rather drastically and it might be as hellish to play.

For those who have played this...how the hell am i suppose to do this without being admitted to a mental hospital?

I clicked around on anything interesting, exploring everything. I didn't follow any guide so had no concept of a "ruined save". It's been a while but I'm not really sure you can get yourself completely stuck, even if you do you can just go back to a previous save now with extra knowledge. Ignore the crystals being there - I believe it's usually obvious when you'll need to use them. If you're stuck, talk to everyone and click some more on all the places you have access to :)

First, you go to this game's general discussion
Then, you press CTRL+F and write "walkthrough". You should find the walkthrough thread.
You're almost there! Scroll down to the second post and you'll find the guide. There is no simpler guide because that's just how complicated the game is. There are times when a single misstep can lead to "wasting" hours of progress, so take care!

There's also TL wiki's walkthrough linked literally on the second page. Seems easier to make a mistake though.Last modified on 2019-06-22 at 13:20

Ok ill take a look at these guides and find the one for me. And from all the talk of the game using the crystals wrong was always pointed out as pretty much ruining a save so i guess i took that as fact.

It's not exactly "ruining" a save, but it can make you waste a lot of time, since you have to do a lot of backtracking/replaying to fix some of the wrong steps.Last modified on 2019-06-22 at 17:00

The game is definitely worth it, so don't give up on it. Using a walkthrough, it's actually quite easy to go through it.

I think the fuwanovel guide seems pretty easy and straight forward I'll proceed using it then.

Yeah, I think I went with it too. Just make sure to read a line or two ahead, as the saves are indicated after the action (as someone on forum has mentioned recently), like this:

Do x.
* make jewel save before

Then don't? Plenty of people had fun playing this game without a guide, and you could argue that playing this without one is a major part of the experience. It's not like this is a Trails game.

Constant switching would kill my enjoyment as well. That's why in my "VN setup" I have little Asus EeePC beside the main laptop, just for displaying guides and walkthroughs ;)

And when I'm on desktop PC, I'm mostly using it for untranslated VNs, which I play in windowed mode, because of text hookers, so one more window with a guide doesn't disrupt the experience.Last modified on 2019-06-23 at 14:47

Yeah, this is the main reason why I've never played this game. Stupid ways to get stuck is the main reason while I hate the entire point-and-click adventure game genre to begin with, and this seem like pretty much the worst example. Like, without a walkthrough how the hell are you supposed to know where to do the jewel saves and what dialogues to take to be able progress? A ton of arduous trial and error, that's how. Maybe as a kid I'd had the patience for that, not today. And since the most important thing about playing VNs is immersion for me, which would be impossible to establish with me having to constantly check the walkthrough, I just can't see how could I enjoy my run with this.Last modified on 2019-06-23 at 15:12

Maybe the game was made this way to sell strategy guides lol. Just like many games back in the 90s.Last modified on 2019-06-23 at 16:44

@warfoki Honestly from reading this thread I think the game's reputation precedes it far too much. If you have the patience for a 50 hour VN, you shouldn't have issues. At worst you'll have click a bunch if you missed a clue. It is not an RPG where missing a skill or failing to complete a quest may lock you out of something you want 100 hours down the line. Like a VN, if you get a bad end, reload your last save and do something differently. From what I recall you collect all the scenes naturally, so it's not like Kara no Shoujo where doing another run for 100% completion would be tiresome without a guide. If one of the puzzles has you completely stumped, sure, look that up but otherwise IMO walkthroughs spoil the experience. Either way, I found the whole game utterly enthralling and highly recommend giving it a go.

Oh, I remember missing a route branching point multiple times, wasting hours restarting the game and doing it all over again. Don't play this without a walkthrough.

Also, the system is the same on the PS4 version, except that they show you where you can click.Last modified on 2019-06-24 at 03:16
