< report >I see we have Game Jolt links. I believe those fuckers decided to ban porn games out of the blue, classic business strategy nowadays. Dunno how many of those links will need to be removed but if there are many, as script might be prefered (I doubt it but who knows).

< report >Good job /s. Remember, a few years ago there was that site called Tumblr? Then they decided to make a bright decision of banning porn, despite majority of the content on the platform being porn. Now ask anyone who even remembers Tumblr...

GameJolt wasn't even a huge platform, so unless they pull Blogger / OnlyFans and immediately reverse the ban, they have just killed themselves. *shrug*

P.S. A few of the links I have checked still work, but unclear for how long.

< report >They reverted their ban in front of the backlash and gave a week grace period to devs to GET THE FUCK OUT! Wait few days before checking again.
Btw did you know how they justified their ban? Because their "large audience of 13-16 year olds have requested we remove these types of games from our platform". Lying through their teeth.

How about booth? There are a bunch of doujin VNs there.
+1. There're 644 products in the "novel game" tag currently. link

And please add Vector, one of the older and biggest Japnese software hosting sites with hundreds of freeware VNs hosted on it. link link Some are not hosted elsewhere, e.g. Tsuki no Terasu and Tokoyo no Hoshizora.

Also, I think it would be great if "External Links" can be added to search filters, so we can easily search VNs on a specific platform.

< report >It's time for more erogamescape links: link
The entries are matched on:
- title at least 90% similar
- same digits in the title
- a release date difference that is less than a year
- same platform
- same producer
This adds about 500 new ids. Could they be imported?

I noticed EGS now has links to VNDB's visual novel pages, that's pretty neat.

< report >Requesting for adding console stores:
Xbox Store link
Nintendo Store link
Nintendo Store (JP) link
Nintendo Store (HK) link
PlayStation Store (HK) link - we already have JP, NA and EU versions, so this is the only one that's needed.

All of these could be used for releases of Digimon SurviveLast modified on 2022-07-29 at 18:45

< report >CUBE has 4 twitter accounts linked to it (since the Wikidata page links to all CUFFS subbrands)

Ideally we would be able to add twitter links directly to a producer, imo

Someone need to create Wikidata entries for each brand, as this one is not useful (to us and to Wikidata). Not the first time I see something similar in VNDB.

< report >Wikidata is garbage in the first place and it shouldn't be the source of links. Last time when I brought up producers should have a field for twitter, I was told to go edit and add entries to an entirely separate database just so we can rely on it instead of linking directly.

As a former wikidata editor, that triggers me in a lot of ways, specially because it's true (;_;).

< report >Can we clean up the way we handle fan-fiction VNs? At the moment:

* fan-fiction of other VNs are given the unofficial spin-off relation. This is fine, although if it's a spin-off of a VN series you have to arbitrarily pick one VN in the series to link it to.

* fan-fiction of anime are given a related anime. At the moment there's no way to distinguish between official and unofficial anime relations, but you can get around this by including the "fan-fiction" tag in searches.

* fan-fiction of manga, novels, games etc. are not properly handled. For popular series they'll also often have an anime adaptation which people then link to, which works but isn't particularly elegant.

Ideally we would have a related book and game database to link to, as well as anime - I guess the issue here is finding a good one? But alternatively, you could have the option of adding a related Wikipedia page - so not a page for the VN itself, but for a book/game/anime series the VN is unofficially based off. Pretty much anything popular enough to get fan-fiction will have its own Wikipedia page so I think that'd work as a solution?

If you really wanted to have a proper solution you could add a new type of page for "series" and let people link VNs to series directly, and link series to Wikipedia/anime etc, this would be a lot more work but would be a much more elegant long-term solution, plus it would nicely replace From Other Media which is pretty inelegant.
