Spoilers can be added with the char<->vn link (to avoid showing a char on the related VN page). I think that should be enough when combined with the instances system.
Ah yeah, my bad, I just have discovered that not too long ago.
The system is quite good now, seriously, you have my thanks.Last modified on 2011-04-05 at 13:41

I congratulate the VNDB staff for this inclusion.
And while me and (I assume) a lot of others are waiting for the claw clamp on character adding to ease. So anyone or a selected few can contribute.
I am very curious though.
Certain people (no names will be mentioned) have done character profiles for a different game from each other.
So would that mean that a user can only add a character from one game or any character from that one game.
Here's an example.
User inserts character profile of main protagionist in say, Clannad.
Now would that user alone add the other characters in.
So a user seems in charge of character profiles on one game once they add.
So far, I like this development.
Can anyone give me the recent news about this option.Last modified on 2011-04-21 at 22:10

When it characters database feature becomes available for everyone to edit and make changes, everyone will be able to edit and make changes on every entry.
There are no limits other than the courtesy that we ask everyone to have for each other. Like asking "why did you do this this way?" before making big changes to avoid edit wars among users.
If people start fighting over an entry, or someone changes one into something that others are sure to be wrong we might lock that character against further editing though.

It would be great if we have the option to add characters to a personal fovourite character list.
Just like in AnimeList.

It has probably been mentioned somewhere, but what are the plans for teh current character related tags among the general game tags? Are they going to be disbanded at some point?

irx: That's the idea, but it'll probably take a while. (t2393.2)

And what would be the "official" recommendation for now - should I vote on such tags for the games which don't have character list yet,, and for the ones which already have them?

The "official" recommendation is to ignore the tags and add/fix all the characters. :P Especially since a lot of those tags can be inferred from the character information automatically, so we can at any point decide to auto-vote such tags based on character information if there is a need to.
Of course, since adding chars is quite a lot of work, just voting on the tags if there's no character is fine, too. :-/

At the risk of being meddlesome, I have the urge to disagree you in that Yorhel.
You seem to rob VNDB of a mighty tool to search for a specific character based on someones fetish to decide which VN to read next.
At the point the VN tags are the only working way too do so.
The browse character feature is neat but at the moment pretty useless - sorry.
You could search for gender, blood-type, body-index, traits and roles.
This is nice, but useless in finding the next VN to read.
There is no option to search age specific visual novels, no language, no plattform and no cross-reverence with visual novel tags, and you do not come in contact with popularity and rating.
If you search for a specific character type you get a decent list of names, that's all.
Now you have to click single character after single character to find a visual novel, which could be of your liking.
I believe this should change someday, but up to this day (whenever this day comes), it would be counterproductive to ignore the character tags of visual novels.
And you still have not commented on my objections regarding nukige characters in t2393.3 - I am interessted of the plans regarding them, as the character traits seem more appropriate for visual novels that come along with more content in story and plot.
