Bored and thought I would kill some time with this question. As stated above name one or more vn that you personal really like or enjoy but majority doesn't agree. And if want to add short description why you like it.

Might be lucky and find some hidden gems here :)

I'd like to suggest you could use VNStat to help answer this question. If you go on your own page -> novels, you can sort by how much higher you rated a VN over its average score.

My one (Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena) is probably not the best example. It's not really unpopular, it's just I really really liked the Labrys route.

The reverse version (game everyone else said was great but I thought was bad) was BlazBlue: Centralfiction [why are fighting games so polarising for me?]. The story was just so boring compared to the previous games and I was really forcing myself to play at the end. I feel like the series peaked with BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and has gone downhill in plot since.Last modified on 2019-11-28 at 17:45

Death Mark and NG. Surprise it's not really popular among VNDB users.

Miel games.
Love them because its harem, fantasy settings and the debauchery of it.
Most fantasy games are either women being brutally raped or very vanilla stuff.
Miel is in a nice between where there are fetishes from those dark games but they are wrapped up in a silly and funny context. I think they are a perfect middle point.
Also they one of the few devs where they make games where you make a powerful demon lord into your personal sex toy. The domination feeling is great.

Not sure if no one likes them, but they're just under the radar.
Ayakashi Koimeguri
Shall We Date?: Destiny Ninja 2+
Ikemen Kakumei ◆ Alice to Koi no Mahou
Shall We Date?: Lost Alice: Destined Lovers in Wonderland

My favourite unpopular VN would be √Letter.
I don't know why I like it myself tbh, the story isn't that good, there's a lot of repetition when going for the different endings and it's just not that good of a VN in general.
I guess I like how it's kind of a simple tourism simulator of Matsue.

Ayakami Shizume ~Shoujo no Ketsudan, Miko no Ketsui~ is a pretty sweet coming-of-age story which you wouldn't expect from this developer (some hardcore content is in bad ends only). Ban'ya is an interesting scenario writer in general.

Gusha no Kyouben ~Ima Shika Dekinai Koto ga Takusan Arun Da!~ has an interesting premise and a fun game in general. It's a lolige though.

Oblivious Garden Solid and unique story. Nothing stellar but still good. Chinese voice acting for the female cast (the novelity factor may have a hand in me liking it)
Hatsukoi Yohou Solid art and not-at-all inferior story to others in the same genre
Memory's Dogma Code:01 A good story and a good cast of characters. Good development as well. Although it's only the first part, it works as a standalone read, but I still hope for a second part someday.

Woah. This post made me realize just how much mainstream I am being with my games, after checking my list. Maybe its because I don't know Japanese, and more often than not poplular VNs get translated.
It has to be Himawari for me, though not as unpopular. It just starts off slow and we are left hanging in the ending. Maybe its because I am into space-themed VNs.

The Letter is not very popular for some mysterious reason. Great English voice-acting, original storytelling, animated sprites and CGs, very high level of interactivity.
Love Esquire - the same can be said about this too. Great humour there - as a bonus. Or maybe I just like this developer? )
Princess X ~Boku no Iinazuke wa Monsterkko!?~ - golden comedy-nukige. Greatly underappreciated.
Sanguine Rose - very interesting and original dark fantasy nukige with great art and story. Almost unknown to anyone as majority of OELVNs.
Oneshota Natsuyasumi - best shotage-milfoge ever. Completely unknown though.
OctoberWEEN Special 2017 - pretty much unknown clone of Bernd und das Rätsel um Unteralterbach. For OELVN lolige connosieurs.
Heart Work Symphony of Destruction - great old vn with unparalleled level of interactivity and freedom of choice. Nowadays they aren't capable of doing such games at all.
Dark Neighborhood - the most funny thing I ever read in my life - nukige or not. Completely unknown as most of 3DCG stuff here.
Dreams of Desire - surprisingly good 3DCG clone of Bible Black -La Noche de Walpurgis-.
Snow Daze: The Music of Winter - rare hypnotism-themed OELVN nukige.
428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ - relatively known - but still, not enough popular given how great this vn is.
Do S na Onee-san wa Suki Desu ka? - rare long high-budget femdom nukige (almost fully translated already - with partial patches there are lots of content available).Last modified on 2019-11-30 at 23:16

there are lots of short VN's that are not touched because they lack H content and are too short and made by ameteurs. A friend of mine did not want to read may sky because it had "weird art". Pity.

This was excellent https: //vndb.org/Cupid

Some more well known vn's that are still worth mention : link
