< report >Heh, they are right about the "I only buy when discounted" mindset...and Steam basically being responsible at least.

< report >Was there even anything to consider "leak" on those pics? Like why would I even care, everyone rants with their co-workers about customers, it's as common, as water being wet.

< report >I understand their frustration with idiots and I imagine this is a common thing on most staff channels, but it's still funny as hell reading leaked comments.Last modified on 2020-03-18 at 09:19

< report >Yeah, if your gonna vent maybe don't do it on a public platform. Because that shit will eventually get out there. Granted, I doubt this is gonna negatively affect their reputation in any way so it's probably best that they learn this lesson now: Whatever you post on a public platform will eventually come back to haunt you one day.Last modified on 2020-03-18 at 21:31

< report >I mean, I understand their annoyance with Rance fans, but at the same time the fans' toxicity is somewhat justified. Just imagine hearing something like: "Hey, translation is coming!" and then the whole thing gets shut down halfway through. A little later: "Hey, translation is coming, but this time it's official!". Cheering and clapping can be heard from every single corner of the Earth and then... years pass, countless other titles get translated, except for the most expected ones. What else would they expect? Even the most patient fans grow somewhat tired of such lenience at that point.

I absolutely support their point on discounts and such though, people begging for them are just absolutely disgusting.

< report >Agree with #8 I was a huge Rance fan back when Sengoku was translated in 2009 and would have happily payed JPN prices for the localisations back then, even when Mangagamer acquired the licenses back in 2016 I probably would have through my enthusiasm was waning and now in 2020 I would probably only buy them on sale (if at all) the wait has been way way to long.Last modified on 2020-03-18 at 17:53

< report >Some people try to make a drama out of these "leaks" but they are just... normal posts? How stupid you should be to believe that MG hates their customers or whatever bullshit point they trying to prove.

< report >I think the main issue here is the sheer unprofessionalism here. I understand they thought they were private...stupid to do it there. The problem however is alot of their complaints aren't really justified. The sale thing ill give them a pass on...yea those people are douchebags. The rance thing? I hate rance but even so its taking eons. For the pedophile one is this referancing the term lolicon being translated to pedophile because if mangagamer did that then they are fully at fault, honestly though don't bad mouth your customers period...if you are going to...make damn sure its private and impossibls to leak out

You know that lolicon in Japan means pedophile, right?

< report >Not only are they jerks who badmouth and belittle their own customers, but they are also imbecile enough to do this on MangaGamer's official Discord channel huh. I sincerely hope this will cost them some sale figures. Not that those power-tripped circlejerking clowns would take their lesson, considering they have yet to apologize for this mess, but still.

< report >#14 What mess? Staff said mean things in a closed staff only channel and now you got your feelings hurt? I guess you all are just perfect human beings who have never said a mean thing about someone behind closed doors huh?

< report >#15 This mess. Badmouthing your costumer behind their back makes you only a jerk, getting caught, on the other hand, makes you a fool who created a mess. They should have known better and shouldn't have talked like this on MG's official Discord channel, because there's always a risk those things can be leaked, as they just did.

Also your silly tu quoque doesn't make any sense. When you get caught doing something bad, you cannot just use other people doing it as an excuse. Would you also defend them if they were lying to people, since almost everyone lies at least once in their life? What kind of nonsensical argument is that?

< report >#16 Why is it being an official MG server matter? Please explain the difference between a private staff channel and a personal private server. Either way, its MG staff bad-mouthing customers so why is one somehow worse than the other?

< report >#17 When some staff members shit talk about a company's costumers in an official server, I think the company has the obligation to stop them, failing to do so tarnishes said company's reputation and shows that the said company doesn't really care about their costumers' dignity.

When some staff members shit talk about anyone via some completely unrelated server, or personal messages, the company has no such obligations and it doesn't -at least, not as much- tarnish said company's reputation.

Now, please you explain to me why other people doing bad things is a good enough excuse. I am quite curious about your justification.Last modified on 2020-03-19 at 01:02

< report >#18 Because everyone has bad-mouthed others when they are in private. Getting upset over it when we all do the same damn thing is ridiculous.

< report >#19 Everyone told at least one lie in their lifetime. Is getting "upset" over being lied is also ridiculous, since we all do (or did!) the same damn thing? Or does this silly principle only apply when you decide it applies?Last modified on 2020-03-19 at 07:13

< report >#20 no one else said a single word about lies, what are you even arguing for? Lying to people =/= venting behind their backs, why the hell do I even have to write this.

< report >#21 If you think "I can badmouth people behind their back and even if I get caught, I am not in the wrong, *because* everyone has done it at least once." is a valid statement then you should also accept that "I can lie to people and even if I get caught, I am not in the wrong, *because* everyone has done it at least once." is also a valid statement. I am arguing that @iisderp justification for badmouthing people behind their back is either invalid or it's a principle that would make lying okay.Last modified on 2020-03-19 at 03:42

Lolita complex is a JP concept. Lolicon art originated from there. In eroge, 2D art, Lolicon has totally different meaning than Pedophile. What you're advocating for is full blown localization of all foreign concepts and terms. We should localize sushi into raw fish because apparently it's the same thing, yeah? I disagree with this because that is both confusing, inaccurate in the finer sense, and disrespectful.

Regarding the logs themselves, many of those people are simply bad people. You don't need logs to know that if you're already familiar with them. Also, I hope people realize that most if not all the publishers are like this. They hate their consumers and think themselves above them. If you ever try talking with someone working in the industry and you are good at reading people you are likely to find that they really want nothing to do with you or anything you stand for.Last modified on 2020-03-19 at 08:10

< report >@rampaa: I guess that always applying computer logic to human beings is not the way to go here even if you are correct...
And to me lisderp actually didn't say you cannot get upset because you get lied, you actually can and probably will get upset but here we are talking about people getting upset becase someone else lied to you and not to them directly.
First I guess someone can mind his own business but that's probably too much to ask since gossiping and enjoying other people failures is an everyday sport nowadays and second probably if many of us would have the occasion to be in the MG staff position we would have done the same expecially when people criticize hard your work, but that's life. [I have seen the worst behaviours even here on VNDB against poorly translated VN btw...]
I'm not telling this to justify their behaviour since it's a behaviour they did while working, in my company if something like that happened you would probably get a fine because from a company point of view those chat getting public could be detrimental for the company reputation and thus you should try to stop something like that to happen again or make it at least costly to the ones that made the mistake.Last modified on 2020-03-19 at 08:23
