Hi everyone,

I have started an English translation project.

I have to say, I am not proficient enough in Japanese to finish the translation before the end of times. However you can contribute. If you are interested, you can send me a mail to "cookiew at/ pm.me" or contribute on github. Any feedback is welcome.

The project is here:

Thanks for showing interest ! (I thought it was very likely that my post wouldn't be noticed by anyone) I appreciate it.

For people wanting to help for translation, it is not necessary to be perfectly fluent in Japanese, however you should at least have some grasp of the Japanese language, and as importantly, you have to be able to write correct English. Ideally you would be better than me in both aspects. (I am not fluent in Japanese and I am not a native English speaker)
I don't want to discourage anyone but I want to have a good translation.
If you are not really sure about your skills, still, maybe you can pick up a small text section and have a try.

Cookie, hi. You are right to have good translation, I agree with you. Can you please send me small text section to my e-mail smirnofdoc@yandex.ru and I try to translate it as best as I can. I am also not native English speaker and also don't know Japanese very well. Thanks.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 10:35

As much as I agree with shining17, let's not turn to personal attacks.

Yorhel, hello. Thanks for support and sorry for all the troubles I may create for you and the site in general. Let's forget all this. Especially when there is such stressful situation in the world due to coronavirus. I ask all people to take care of themselves and be careful please. Peace to all.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 11:38

As much as I wanted the thing to success, I am a bit skeptical. How could we make sure about the quality of the product?

#14, hi. It depends on the translation itself. People who check the phrases on mistakes as in other companies.

Don't you think it's a stretch for you to translate a long visual novel if you've no track record with shorter ones?

Others can help too who can and wish, I think.

#15, greetings.

As far as I can see, right now there are only people who are not fluent in both JP and EN. A bunch of amateurs in term of language proficiency would not likely to produce a masterpiece. Kind of agree with #16, I would feel safer if someone with a bit more experience also gives their word here.

A guy with no previous translation experience wants to translate a long visual novel and gets an enthusiastic support from a Russian guy who cannot even speak English, much less Japanese. This is gonna be hilarious. I'll get the popcorn. You guys bring the beer. We'll have a party.

#17, this is the wrong mindset. Ideally, the same person should translate every line a single character has, for consistency in the way that character talks. As a result, you should ideally have a MAX of (no. characters) + 1 [for the narration] translators. This is also important for foreshadowing and terminology consistency, so ideally this should be much lower. The crowdsource mentality should not be used for stories.

#19, idk i don't think a mod/admin should be actively fanning the flames but you do you.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 15:34

Nothing I'm gonna say is gonna make the thread worse than it already is. The only way forward is to make it hilarious instead of sad.
And yes, Shining, we all know what kind of character Risus is. But after being banned like twenty times, we kinda decided it's better to keep enemies close. After all, if we ban him again, he will just come back under a different alias.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 15:39

Really, you are not healthy at all, beliar, fuukanou and shining17. I know English very well, you are not a judge to referee me. You have so much bile and rudeness in you without any objective reasons.

You imagine unreal things. It is a mental ilness. I am not a psychiatrist, but I advice you to visit them as soon as posible. Or you are simply internet trolls. If so, your behavior is very funny.

Sorry for offtop, they forced me to reply to them in such manner.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 16:52

Guys, it's natural to be skeptical. But please, be considerate of people.

Now, here's my view on the subject.
I don't know how far I'll go, and I think it is likely that the VN will not be completely translated. I'd be happy if I can translate at least 1 route.
Even if I'm not a Japanese speaker, I can do a (somewhat) decent translation. At least it is better than pure machine TL, because I have context, I actually think, and I can improve on the machine TL.
I think I know the pitfalls. Translating the way the characters talk, well I can't do that very well, because I know it requires a lot of intimacy with both Japanese and English, so it's not going to be good in that regard.

Sorry to say this, but even though it may be bad, I think it won't be so bad that you'll be able to enjoy it with popcorn.

Anyways, I will try to keep doing this for now. We'll see.
