For characters that have no image at all in game, I personally don’t like the “no image uploaded yet” because I think it looks awkward among all the images of other characters, plus it’s inaccurate since image will never be uploaded.

Is it okay if I instead upload a custom image that simply says “No image available” (maybe with the specific VN’s title as a faded background to the text for aesthetic purposes)? I think it would look nicer.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 15:56

I don't think that is necessary.
Maybe it's not very aesthetic to have a char with no picture among others, but t just uploading a non-picture "picture" that simply says "No Picture Available" sounds like OCD to me.

I think there should be an image default saying "no image yet" when not uploading one yourself.
Due to the databases being handled by users some users just dont bother with the image of say the protagonist because they dont have a face or sprite at hand and they dont bother to research the CGs for the MCs appereance which is different from spriteless NPCs which dont have an ingame CG representation whatsoever.
As it stands now no image available doesnt differentiate between a character with ingame visual representation (Most faceless characters have a detailed design even when they have no eyes) and a character with none whatsoever.
So yeah I think there should be a toggle to turn in case of a character having no image to represent them.Last modified on 2020-03-22 at 16:49
