< report >I just finished this. I think it had great potential, but didn't live up to it. The backstory was great, and as far as I can tell, original. I am talking of course about the fact that Arawn is a fallen angel and is fighting against heaven for the mortals sake. It adds a nice twist to it to find out his name is Lucifer, too.

But it seems like they didn't fully develop the plot. A lot of the characters seemed to develop bonds with each other WAY too quickly, giving me the impression I was supposed to have started giving a sh*t about these characters at some point, but it was just way too soon. Morgan and Octavia in particular seemed to be really underdeveloped and ignored, which is odd seeing as how they are Arawn's wives, so I would think they would be a little more central to the story.

I also didn't really care about the antagonists throughout most of the story. Gaius was just awesome, and I actually liked him MORE than the main characters. The Empire was evil in name only, and I didn't feel any particular loathing towards them one way or the other. The only thing they did that was bad to the main characters was kidnap Riannon in the beginning, and that wasn't even really the empire, it was just Dwrc going crazy.

Anyway, I also seem to be missing a scene and two CG's (probably from that scene), but I have no idea how that would happen seeing as how the story is TOTALLY linear, and does not offer even a single choice at any point in the game. So do I need to play it again for different scenes or what? Is it worth it, if anybody has done so? I would like to just skip all read text and see the new scenes if they exist, but it doesn't seem like the skip function is even advanced enough to do that. It just skips everything, if I understand it correctly.

< report >And don't forget the fact that Arawn has like six (?) wives and for the majority of the game he spends his time screwing the one that looks like she is eight. *mad*
And the story is such a patchy mishmash of Judeo-Christian mythology, Mabinogion and Arthurian mythos, that I soon stopped caring about suspending my disbelief and stopped caring about the story in general.

< report >The scene you're missing is probably the one you get when you buy the red string at the item shop.

< report >You mean the tentacle rape scene with Epona? That had to do with the book? I have that one... but I never bought the red string because it was crazy expensive. Luckily I have a save right before the final huzzah, so I can go back and do it.

....aaaaaaaaaand I just did it. Interesting.Last modified on 2011-05-09 at 21:08

< report >The story "had potential."

And they blew it. Majorly so.

The game was a huge disappointment tbh. It wasn't hard whatsoever, the gameplay wasn't anything interesting (heck, I left my characters on auto and tab-surfed most of the time) and the story blew. And why the hell did he screw Ershin was it? more than anyone else. fucking pedophile. The only heroine I remotely found interesting was the water elf, whatever her name was. I know it was based off someone from Welsh mythology or something but meh, cba to remember.

5/10. So so. for sure.

you have no taste good sir...=P

and im sure 99% of people who played it used the auto feature...

as for heroines the only one i cared about was...i cant remember her name the first archer girl you get...

< report >Morgan that was. And she was the first girl Arawn fucked too.

And oh, trust me, I don't mind lolis at all. As long as the said lolis are at least fuckable. Ershin literally has the body of a 8 year old, my suspension of belief can't handle Arawn fucking her, sorry. A proper loli would be Epona and yeah, she, alongside Llŷr (yeah, remembered her name), were the only girls I remotely cared for.

< report >I was disappointed, the story had a lot of potential.
EDIT: to be more precise, Utawarerumono despite having a far crappier combat system was better in every other way.Last modified on 2011-07-07 at 00:10

< report >I agree with overmage, maybe molding the concept between the two games would make a super game.
They have the same themes though, but Utawarerumono's was told in a more superior way.
Still, not too bad, the combat system was new and frustrated me when they acted... stupid.
Verdict: 8/10 - Better story telling and it would've been awesome.

< report >I really like the atmosphere and general feel of the game, it really has a lot of polish and feels more like a SRPG on a console than an eroge with SRPG gameplay. In fact, the sex scenes actually feel tacked on and are really unerotic even though I like most of the characters involved in them. From a fapping point of view, eroge are good because they build up context and emotional momentum for the sex scenes, but this doesn't succeed at that at all. So it's a pretty good SRPG (particularly for an eroge) but a terrible eroge.

< report >I liked the gameplay and the story was interesting. When I first started the game I was excited but as soon as I realized Arthur wasn't the main character it pissed me off. I couldnt play the game seeing Arawn get randomly fucked and praised all the time while the real hero, Arthur, gets looked down on by every one and pushed out of the story.

Should probably use it as a lesson to check tags next time before reading a VN (Maou Protagonist). Sometimes the title image/summary are misleading.

Anyways, I haven't finish this yet but so far Arthur has pretty much just been comedic relief o-O.

to be honest I actually liked Arawn as a main character. Arthur from what I remember was only integral to like 2 or 3 scenes and comedic relief for the rest of it.

< report >I really hate when Leaf only dumbs all H-scenes to one main guy.
That why AliceSoft will be my most favorite producer for now and forever.

pretty sure its considered normal in a VN that all h-scenes have the protagonist involved o.o

unless I misunderstood what you meant

< report >I've played Daibanchou and S. Rance and I don't really remember many (any?) h scenes with side male characters.

The only ones I remember were rape scenes like Yarashido(sp?) in Daibanchou. I don't really recall any consensual ones... I could just not be remembering right.Last modified on 2012-08-07 at 03:29

< report >the only other H scenes in Rance I can remember that do not involve Rance are the one with his sword once you take over Tanegashima, and one with Xavier if you let Leila's unit get to low in battle vs the demon army.

Possible I may be forgetting one or two but It's not many.
