Interaction of general tags and specific subtags

How are these meant to interact? Maman Kyoushitsu ~Mirai no H na Obenkyou~ has had "Protagonist's Blood-related Sister as a Heroine ", marked as "not applicable" with a note that there's a more specific tag("Protagonist's Full Sister as a Heroine"). Intuitively it should come up on a search for the former, but it doesn't. Is this how it normally works or is there a hiccup somewhere?

As the note mentioned, you should always try to use the most specific subtags that apply and ignore the more generic tags.
w.r.t. searching, parent tags inherit all VNs from the more specific tags, so searching for either Protagonist's Sister as a Heroine or Protagonist's Blood-related Sister as a Heroine will show Maman Kyoushitsu ~Mirai no H na Obenkyou~. That works for me, at least.

Intuitively it should come up on a search for the former, but it doesn't.weird, earlier I checked, it worked for me too link. no matter how much you downvoted the parent tags, the VN will always appear on it when at least a child tag is tagged, just like Yorhel said. therefore, we downvoted the more generic one to avoid getting redundant (especially the non-applicable ones), unless the tag is necessary.

Well, this is embarrassing: it turns out my issue was that I was searching two tags to locate it and the second("Pregnant Sex") was hidden behind a spoiler marking for some bizarre reason(it's not).
