How to buy from Melonbooks DL!! - A Workaround

Two things, this is for a very niche selection of titles (I'll only use this for Nee ♥ Summer! ~Nee ♥ Sama!~ myself) and the title is clickbait-y (you're going to have to use the mobile version of Melonbooks DL, which works on Desktop browsers).

You need two things:

1. A Melonbooks DL account which you'll be able to create on link. You'll need to use something like Google Translate/your Japanese-fluent-brain to enter the information and get the necessary Katakana.
2. The ProductID of the DL title that you want, in the example case above that's 'IT0000115792' (go to the official website of the VN, look for the Melonbooks DL link, open it -it won't work-, take the ProductID out of the URL and copy it).

Make an account, get your CC ready and enter the item ID after the last equal sign in h ttps://touch.melonbooks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id= .

I'll trial this myself in the near future and come back to you with the results, since it's possible that you'll get a smartphone version, though I find this highly unlikely in the above VN's case since none of Artemis' titles have a listed Android or iOS release. It's also possible that this is, in fact, just a mobile version of the very same shop like I've written above. Edit: It may also be possible that I won't be able to access the download when I've purchased the item, we'll see. I have it already, I just want to legitimately buy it now :DLast modified on 2020-05-24 at 15:25

The item's in the cart and now I'm selecting the payments method. That's how far I've gotten. I have a [debit-style] prepaid debit card so it takes a day or two for it to be charged up.Last modified on 2020-05-24 at 15:21

I've looked for the right term and it's actually a 'prepaid debit card'. They're debit cards from the major CC firms that get pre-charged/paid with a certain amount of money and you can then only spend within that amount, no debt or overcharge. I have one with my local bank and pay 1€ per month the 1st year, 2€ per month after that (just to own it, real CCs cost even more). It's all I'd ever need from a CC. The only downside would be extremely time-limited flash sales with a duration of 48h or less. It sometimes took 72h/3days for the money to appear on the card but I'd rather have this one downside instead of the temptation of CCs.Last modified on 2020-05-24 at 15:22

Bought it, downloaded it and ran it! No major problems!

Had a little scare after getting 404'd on the DL screen but I got the file after clicking the link again. Payment processing was very quick and without any hiccups, I'm looking at you, DMM.

So, if you're in the market for some MB exclusive Doujins, try it! Otherwise I'd recommend the Doujin section of every other major seller. Nee Summer had no DRM attached but I don't know if that applies to all the titles on MB.

DMM integration with PayPal is very good. PayPal has no credit card restrictions, so the only thing which is a limitation is the 500 point minimum when buying cheap game DLC.

That wasn't about the lack of payment processors or anything but more about having to re-enter already entered CC information when you buy on DMM and even then having to wait or re-enter it again. None of those problems with MB or DLSite. t13050.37 and following is one example, you've also remarked how PayPal works in that thread.

It's bad in your case because of your preferred payment method. I don't see it that way because DMM won't take my credit card to begin with, yet are happy to take paypal payment for their points with no handling fee and with no annoying (and risky) multiple attempts to enter credit card information.

Melonbooks and DLsite are much simpler in their credit card processing since they don't have the regional firewall DMM employs. Anyone who can create a DLsite registered account can do the same with Melonbooks, it's more or less the same process.Last modified on 2020-05-26 at 14:51
