< report >Hello there! I recently came across the series (currently watching) and found out it was based on a VN. The only info found was on this site and I wanted to watch a gameplay because I don't have much space on my SDD right now :( but if I have to, I'd download it, I guess :/

Thing is... I can't find a video/dd to the game...

So, anyone here has it? Can anyone help me find anything, I'd be eternally grateful ^^

Thanks everyone who reads and replies in advanced!

< report >i'll tell you what you sure aint gonna be playing this game (Night Walker Mayonaka no Tantei)

it's from 1993 on the pc98 (i.e. before windows)

there's an alternative version for windows pc from 2001 (Night Walker) but idk the relation to the original, it's physical only, and you're not going to run it on anything but windows 98 or xp (native japanese install version). If you must have it anyway, I found it for a cool 10k yen on suruga-ya (link)

They're all commerical games so you're gonna have to hunt on net auctions/used game stores to buy it... and that's even if you've passed the first hurdle of "can you read japanese without assistance" because i doubt you're going to be able to get machine translation working on this.Last modified on 2020-09-14 at 22:35

< report >Now's the time I wish I got my old PC with Windows 98 :(
Thanks a lot for the data!! The (Night Walker) in second link doesn't seem to fill the bill though u.u This seems like an impossible search since I don't think there's someone who'd have, play and record a game like this haha.
I don't even know where to start to search for possible gameplays.
Thanks very very much fuukanou!

< report >I found this website link too. This is what I mostly wanted to peek at least, the looks of it. Gameplay looks intuitive but the general aesthetics seem really appealing. It's an eroge so it'd be just playing to display different images of Yayoi and Riho (why underage with grown-ups? ugh smh) as they 'came to the world' lol. Looks fun but well, nothing to do if I don't get the story :/

< report >n.b. just in case you were confused, pc98 is not the same as windows 98, you need a physical pc98 box to run it or a suitable emulator (if they exist idk).

< report >Don't listen to this sorry individual trying to make you stray from the straight and narrow path of Justice. PC98 emulators exist and I just needed five minutes to fire up mine with the floppies I found and take five screenshots from the very very beginning.
PC98 emulators ready to work out of the box can be found here. You can find valuable information on t5395 and t5396.

As for the windows remake (?), I will tell you tonight if this is runnable on modern OS because, for now, I need to sleep. I am glad all of that took only five minutes of my time. SARABADA!

[insert a pic of Tuxedo Kamen leaving the scene here as I spent ten minutes trying to find one without success]Last modified on 2020-09-15 at 12:00

< report >Wow eacil thanks a lot for that valuable info!! you gave me light in my path, now it seems less impossible for me xD now, where should I start searching to download the game? (though I know I won't make far cause I know little Japanese, let alone Kanji >.<).
Also: the remake doesn't seem to be related to (at least) Shido's story. If it does and you are sure about it, let me know.
Thanks again to everyone! I'm so newbie at researching this kind of things and google doesn't always help me :(

< report >I was able to start the game on Windows 7 without any problem. It can even switch between window mode and fullscreen with just alt+enter without any problem. For a 2001 game, it is just perfect.
This version is a very very fugly remake. I advise against playing it. I have appended five screens from the windows version to my album, to show how similar they are.Last modified on 2020-09-16 at 02:33

< report >If you don't mind showing the differences that'd be great! I can imagine the remake being totally unnecessary to actually exist, that's why I was sticky to the original version (which I don't mind it being fugly tbh, just curiosity drove me here lol).
Let's get this straight: you say the remake (Night Walker link) is the fugly version AND it's pretty much the same as (Mayonaka no Tantei link)?
If Night Walker is the same as Mayonaka and it's available in English, I guess I should try it ''for the sake of research''. Thanks again, eacil.

< report >It's not available in English afaik, but it does have an anime based on it that might be in English.

< report >Well, he said in his first sentence that he is watching it (and yes, subs are available).
