< report >Why was this link release removed? What do you mean alternative VN? It was builded to a different engine, and as for the changes in the story: they were created as part of the translation, and do not create a different story from the original.Last modified on 2020-10-23 at 21:44

< report >Well, you cannot blame us - your note on the release stated that
This version has a mostly (about 90%) rewritten story compared to the original game.
It was understood that you pretty much made your own story using the game's assets, thus making the release essentially a separate game.
You need to be more precise and explain to us what that statement means and how the story was changed, if you want to reinstate the entry as a release, and not as a separate VN.

< report >This means that the translation is not literal. Since the game was translated by the developer from chinese to english, the English in the game is very poor quality. My translation team is famous for making adaptations of visual novels for russian-speaking audiences. This does not mean that we change the plot, we present it in our own words, correct technical and logical mistakes made by the author, and add cut or unfinished scenes. Yes, the final version of the game that we translated and rebuilt is slightly different from the original for the better, but it's still the same game, not a fan-made modification.

< report >Well, if this is not a total rewrite of the game, and simply a possibly bad translation, I feel like there is no particular cause to remove it. I will re-instate it and will remove your note taht confused us in the first place.

< report >@3 "Not literal translation" is completely different from "rewritten story", so it was perfectly reasonable for people to assume that it has completely different plot.

< report >Not literal translation is not the same thing as adding new scenes and "fixing mistakes" (whatever that means since they could change something that doesn't reflect the vision of the original author) though

< report >Your tl note on anivisual makes it clear that it's not just a bad translation, but it's pretty much fan fiction.
Since when fan fiction = translation?
You said it yourself, rewritten 90% of text and some scenes added
Also do you know chinese?
Cause sakuragame is mtl, so did you just took english mtl, translated it into russian and filled gaps with power of your imagination? LOL
Also seems like it's pirate release too, cause it's impossible to download patch separately and only download whole game with built-in translation ported to renpy.
This is totally not okay.

< report >Links to standalone translations of commercial games - that is sometimes ok, if that's the only form of translation available. There are currently hundreds such links in the db and not all of them of the ru translations.

Now, the question of the translation is a different beast altogether. Ideally, someone with knowledge of both ru and ch could tell us, how much of the ru text is fiction, lacking that, not sure how to tell if the dev is lying or not...

< report >I don't understand point of this discussion. There is a visual novel, we have translated it. Whether it is good or bad is up to audience to decide (and it was received positively despite all of above). We didn't create a new story, we translate as we know how and as we like. If someone is not satisfied with quality of translation, they have right to criticize it or simply not read it. Everything else, in my opinion, is a meaningless transfusion of water.

correct technical and logical mistakes made by the author, and add cut or unfinished scenes.

These two things goes beyond just giving your own interpretation of what you think the author was trying to say. This should be removed or be listed as a fan game because that's what it is. You don't try to "fix" anything, add new scenes, or delete current scenes. A translation isn't a "director's" cut. The only changes you need to do besides the translation is fixing typos.Last modified on 2020-10-29 at 16:54

< report >We translate from English, not Chinese. Not in this project, anyway.

As for completion of scenes, it looks like this: developer puts a sky background, at this moment there is a dialogue and a description of some actions of characters. What do we do? We replace sky background with one that corresponds to situation, add sprites and adjust their animation so that something really happens on the screen. Why this was not done initially, I don't know. Maybe developer didn't have time to finish work for one reason or another.

Don't forget that this is a game rebuild, not a translation patch. We make those changes to game that we consider necessary at the build stage. I don't work officially to comply with conventions of "do not interfere with source code". I've already stepped in to translate the game.

So from cn->en mtl, i see.

Yeah, sounds like fan made game and not patch, patch entry should be removed for sure.Last modified on 2020-10-30 at 05:06

What's to say that wasn't Sakuragame's own blunder? I doubt you asked the devs on any problems to make sure what their original intention was.Last modified on 2020-10-30 at 16:56

< report >If we ask everyone if they want to see their games translated into Russian or not, there will be no translations at all. We will work as we want, no one pays us for it.

If you like to give me a hard time, I'll leave VNDB. I already have a big fanbase to promote my translations.

< report >Sounds like you guys put out fan-remasters rather than fan-patches, which seems appreciated but I really don't think syncs with vndb's objective as it goes above and beyond in fan modification. Couldn't you release a separate patch that only has the translation without the additional content/rebuilt sections?Last modified on 2020-10-31 at 13:56

< report >No. It would be a waste of time. We also don't release stubs. In addition, it was technical problems of original game that forced me to rebuild game to another engine.

What's difference? Russian-speaking players go to VNDB and see that game has a russian translation. Follow links, download and enjoy the game. No one cares about anything that wasn't in original if they never read original anyway and only buy it on Steam for collection.Last modified on 2020-10-31 at 20:56
