If I'm not guaranteed to be the protagonist, then there's a non-zero chance that I will end up being the Side Character A who doesn't get a harem while the shitty protagonist guy gets one. This is simply not acceptable. So the very fabric of that universe should have some kind of mechanism that ensures that even a so-called side character has a fulfilling and happy life. A divine concept like "fated girls" being real in that universe would probably help. Surrounding yourself with beautiful girls but being able to choose only one of them is just bullshit. So polygamy being legal and commonplace is a must. Not being able to make sweet love to your imoutos would be a folly. So incest shouldn't be a big deal in that universe. But the feeling of eating the forbidden fruit is alluring in and of itself, so maybe it should be mildly frowned upon just to keep that allure alive. Same goes for lolis. I also feel like slave girls should be a thing somehow but I'm not sure how to consolidate that with a moral world yet.
