One of Smee's worst titles

< report >Smee decided to hop on the isekai train... and completely dropped the ball. What was the purpose of even having the isekai setting and then having the cast be entirely human? This is the biggest wtf I've ever seen. No elves, demon girls, beast girls, etc etc. Nothing but humans. This game had a lot of other problems too...

On a side note, props to Hikari's voice actor for her great performance in HaremKingdom. Her debut voice acting role was a minor character in Making*Lovers during Reina's route (link) and then managed to snag one of the leading roles for this title. I always like to see quality seiyuu get nurtured and grow over time.

I don't see any particular problems with that. I'm more than tired of isekais always having the same old fantasy setting. There's so much more you can do with the concept.

What exactly? You haven't mentioned anything and just ranting here...

You would have said exactly the opposite if it had ishizoku characters. Remember link and link released recently to this game. Those games had your elves, succubuses, goddesses, etc. I'm actually glad they stuck to full human cast. All of them have decent to great personalities. Works perfect for a Smee moege.Last modified on 2021-04-12 at 22:11

< report >Even with the first post feeling like a rant, this is really, the worst game of SMEE up to date.
The whole game feels forced, there is no chemistry between any of the main cast, pretty much what so ever.
Biggest offence is of course the cringworthy, unfunny scenes.
Comming from a game maker whose only real distinction from the sea of shit VNs is their humor, it really is jarring.
The whole game feels like a cheap cash grab riding on the isekai/tensei and harem bandwagon.
Then again one should be worried when a game tries to sell itself on harem.
There are only like a handfull of actually good harem games in existence, the rest is just "bait and switch".

< report >#4 So what should a good harem game focus on? The economic downturn and recession of the world? What's with the "bait and switch"? What did you think the game was all about?Last modified on 2021-05-20 at 12:04

Calling out others' rant and then going out one oneself. Talk about meta LOL

Forced? That's because this game focuses more on what happens after the main cast gets into a polygamous relationship. Smee decided to get directly into the good part by skipping the elongated tedious emotional foreplay. Compare it with the most successful Smee title Making Lovers, Saki's and Reina's routes are far more forced and less believable when you compare to this game. The MC there says stuff like 'I only love virgins' and expects us to find it funny. Or Kanojo * Step, where Kuon and Asuka's route were forced as well and the MC felt like a degenerate at times. Don't get me wrong, I love those games to the core. Giga games have longer and stretched relationship building but it gets boring really quick. But in a genre where you have 1 male MC and multiple FMCs, after playing so many games you are bound to find things a bit forced especially in the beginning. In that light, I actually like how this game moved quickly past that.

there is no chemistry between any of the main cast
Haven't you played Charlone's or Hikari's route? You didn't find it realistic? Sophia was deredere but her scenes were hot as hell. Marrou had a completely unique route. I don't know what you were expecting more?

The whole game feels like a cheap cash grab riding on the isekai/tensei and harem bandwagon.
I have 2 questions for you. 1) Have you actually played this game? Like read through 30+ hours of content and seriously didn't find anything worth of charm?
2) If so, then why did you waste 30+ hours reading something you didn't like? Are you that jobless? XD

"bait and switch"?
HAHAHAHA It wasn't a cash grab at all. This title won the Game of the Month award when it released. It just means your tastes are different.

Just play Hibiki Works or Minato Soft games if you are expecting a more balanced storytelling and chemistry. People (including me) seem to generally love this game. The voice acting was top tier as well. Getting 2 full length fan discs is a proof of it's popular demand.Last modified on 2021-06-07 at 00:49

What's with the "bait and switch?"
#6 You seem to be agreeing with me there, why are you quoting me? And another thing's bothering me... bit off topic but anyway.

The MC there says stuff like 'I only love virgins' and expects us to find it funny.
This feels like you attacking those who like virginity... I mean, why? Virginity is wholesome man. It's hard to find wholesomeness in reality, this medium is one of the few who could offer it to those who seek for it. Or was it you just had some elite-level of humor?Last modified on 2021-05-31 at 15:42

My bad bud. I accidentally quoted you. I'll edit.

I'm not attacking anyone who likes virginity. I mean on the contrary it is far more offensive for people to be judged because they are not virgins though...but I digress. What I meant was this is not something that a character should bring up during important times. Case in point is, in Making Lovers Saki's route, the MC says that he only wants be be in a romantic relationship with a virgin during the CONFESSION scene! He clearly says that he may not even think of going out with her if Saki were not a virgin. I don't mind people preferring virgins but this particular moment wasn't funny for me. I was like wtf because I had finished Karen's route before this and that was wholesome af. Worst part was he first asked Saki out, then confirms she's a virgin and then he's like 'thank goodness otherwise we wouldn't be going out'. Now you tell me if this is wholesome or a funny joke. It's neither my friend.Last modified on 2021-06-07 at 10:09

I remember Kuon's route, the amount of times the cast called the MC a lolicon on her route was ridiculous. In particular one of the side girls (Nana) literally shouts it out several times in public places, like the gymnasium and hallway. It really got old hearing that bitch shout "here comes the lolicon!" whenever she saw you on Kuon's route, or the festival date etc etc...

And Saki being a virgin in M*L almost broke my suspension of disbelief. Her "I went to all-girls school" doesn't hold up very well considering she's been out of school for, what, 6-7 years by this point? I just roll my eyes and move on.

Exactly! Didn't find any of that funny XD Oh gosh that Nana was so annoying in other routes as well.

Not to mention she even works in ShowBiz. Talks and acts like a typical Roppongi woman working for TV Asahi and living in high rise mansions in Minato ward(I strongly feel this is what they went for)...then says she's a virgin... I was like do virgins even exist in Roppongi? This was so unbelievable for those who live in Japan(I live in Japan and my friends also play) that I just kinda gave up reading too much into her character. Since then I have stopped taking Smee seriously and just play it for the laughs and H-scenes. I play Hibiki Works or Giga for when I need something of a more realistic moege.

< report >#12 Your first mistake was taking Smee seriously in the first place. I mean, what?

And you knew that it was a moege, God forbid a moege that has a non-virgin heroine in it. It was never about whether it was realistic or not. I mean, there's ton of 1000 years old loli vampires/elves/demon lords/goddesses/spirits/angels/androids virgin, tell me whether that is realistic.Last modified on 2021-06-09 at 09:20

Your first mistake was taking Smee seriously in the first place. I mean, what?
Well, M*L was my first Smee game. How was I supposed to know before playing? I played Kanojo*Step afterwards. The only reason why I started playing Smee games was because it is a subsidiary of Hooksoft (huge fan).

And you knew that it was a moege, God forbid a moege that has a non-virgin heroine in it. It was never about whether it was realistic or not. there's ton of 1000 years old loli vampires/elves/demon lords/goddesses/spirits/angels/androids virgin, tell me whether that is realistic.
But that was not how Smee marketed M*L. There are still release videos on Smee's YT channel if you wanna check them. Hayase Yuu himself said that M*L is the most 'realistic' game he has written a scenario for. He said that he was going for immersion and realistic characters. Wasn't it obvious I'd want Saki's character to be more realistic then? But as I said before, I still love M*L and K*S and thoroughly enjoyed them as did I enjoy Harem Kingdom.

Edit: Also you are taking the word 'realistic' too literally. I don't mean overrated VN tropes like virginity or a 1000 year old goddess. But rather how the characters act and carry themselves and take decisions accordingly. Like, I can accept a 1000 year old virgin goddess heroine, but what I can't accept is 1000 year old virgin goddess saying that it's her first time seeing a dick or she has no theoretical knowledge about sex or similar stupid things just to make her look 'pure'. That ticks me off.Last modified on 2021-06-09 at 12:25

Of course there'd be an uproar XD But as I said in my original comment, I don't mind about that. I'm ok either way and that's not the point. What didn't sit right with me was the MC's attitude towards the girl he just confessed to. I mean imagine, you confess and get OK from the girl who is leagues above you, also get to know at that point that you are her first Boyfriend and she's a virgin. Just call it a win and do a victory dance in your heart and be happy. There's no need to say something as insensitive to her face like 'I am a virgin connoisseur. I can only be in a romantic relationship with a virgin. Thank God you are a virgin or we wouldn't be going out'... I felt the MC in Saki route was different from the one in Karen route XD
