< report >Oh sorry. What trait specifically?

< report >The underwear and the naked trait are certainly applicable, since she's getting stripped one article of clothing at a time in pretty much every game, and in 10 she's forced to spend long amount of time prancing around in underwear or naked.

< report >I usually go in auto mode removing those basically because they are often used wrongly. Anyway my fault, I'll try to pay attention next time, adding those back now.

< report >Thanks. Also not sure if it's the greatest of ideas to follow MG's romanization on anything in the series.

< report >No problem. Done ;D
I'll add Mangagamer romanization in alias.

Generally I believe the ones written on the wiki would be the best for them katakana names, which I believe the existing names already follow.

< report >Yes, you are right. I'm planning on slowly catch up on Rance serie. Do you know if mangagamer is planning on translating Rance 03 Leazas Kanraku too?

< report >No idea sorry. I've read it already so I don't follow the localization much. But I really doubt they would skip a game in the series (the best one at that in my opinion). If you care about knowing the story, then I suggest just playing through the fanTL of III and IV for now.

< report >Yes I'll do that. Not much free time, anyway.
I know that reading it's completly a personal experience but if don't bother you too much, which english translated VN with a short/medium reading span time will you advise me to read, amongst the one you have read?

< report >Gonna list a bunch of stuff from different genres since you didn't ask for anything specific. Just the ones up to 30 hours then. *tastes may differ
Loca x Love for a romance focused moege
Nekopara for just simple-minded moege
Osadai for a pretty damn funny moege
9-nine, Ne no Kami, Sharin no Kuni for mix of plot and moe (second is yuri)
Saya no Uta for plot
Damekoi for charage
HemoImo for a funny nukige
Kedamono (Kazoku) tachi no Sumu Ie de, Kashidashi Tsuma Marina for NTR/NTRS
Bishoujo Mangekyou and 1room for just a simple nukige
OniKiss for imoutos

< report >Thanks mrkew. I only played "Kedamono (Kazoku) tachi no Sumu Ie de, Kashidashi Tsuma Marina" of that list. I usually prefer sexually heavy content nukige, guro or comedy. Favorite fetish is foot fetish, NTR as female perspective or generally every comedy and silly story. Also like rpg hybrids like Rance and Venus Blood series.

I was asking myself, since I just finished both Rance01 and Rance02-kai version, and followed your advice and I started playing Rance 03 with AGHT if it's better to use Alicesoft romanization (the one in the Rance03 labels) or is it better to stick to the Alicesoft Wiki romanization?
Beacuse for example Leila Grecni seems better translated as Leira Grexney then Leila Grecni. What do you think?Last modified on 2021-04-18 at 12:36

< report >Alicesoft romanization seems to be bit of a joke from what I've seen. For example, Miracle Tou is written as "Milacle" in R9. Specifically regarding Leila, I don't see where the x in Grexney would come from as the name is グレクニー, not グレックスニー
I recommend playing Rance III for now until Rance 03 is TL'd or you decide to learn the moon language, as I believe using MTL is a good way to ruin a game for yourself, and there's nowhere to rush since Rance 10 won't be translated in this decade, but if you really want to do it that way, then go ahead. Oh and don't forget to play Kichikuou Rance after Rance IV. You might think about skipping it as it's not part of the new canon timeline, but that would be a big mistake.

As for the rec, I believe the only other TL'd NTR from female perspective I read is Taimanin Yukikaze, which was top notch at the beginning. Then I see you played Venus Blood Frontier but not Chimera. While it's not an RPG or strategy game like Frontier (it's a simple raising game), Chimera is like my favorite nukige variety-wise. There's so many different fetishes packed into that game (I don't think the tags are complete). When you said comedy, I remembered I saw Ren'ai, Karichaimashita is getting a TL soon. I don't know how accurate it's going to be, but it was certainly hillarious at times in the original.

< report >Hi mrkew, since I saw you are adding character to other Rance games is it possible to ask you to add them with white backgruond? I would like to have them with consistent background through releases. What do you think?

< report >Fine, I will extract the tachie and use them instead. I've been using the ingame sprite viewer until now, but I suppose I could replace them.

< report >If you prefer we could just swap them all to black bg, but it seems an huge work to do. But anyway no need to replace them now, I was just asking so we align to the preferred color background.

< report >For the sake of completeness, maybe you already know but I use the 0,83 aspect ratio for pictures. Since the minimum requirement for picture is 250x300, I try to respect the ratio and go for 333x400, 375x450, 500x600, 550x660 and so on. In this way the picture fill the whole area.

< report >No it's fine, it's like 30-40 chars. White is better as there are some characters which don't appear in R10 which is where the sprite viewer with black background is.
Do you have any advice on how to achieve the right ratio for 256x300 so all the character images on the page appear the same size? The extracted images are 1920x1080 so I have to crop them to show only the character, but then the sizes in character overview are all over the place like so link

< report >lol is it truly 256? Fuck... I have always used 250x300 as a ratio example (maybe because 250 is easier to calculate)... It's since 2012 that I'm doing this.
Ok beside me calculating wrongly the ratio since eons, I use gimp to achieve that. Instead of cropping I create various layers that I find compelling for that game resolution, and then I drop the transparent tachie as a second layer and center it in a way that I like. After that you can export the resulting image.

Here my working environment link. In red you can see some different size aspect ratio white bagrounds, instead in pink you can see the two layers, the white bagkround plus the transparent tachie that I move around to center inside the lower white bg layer.
Is this what you were asking me?Last modified on 2021-04-24 at 12:36

< report >Actually if I recall correctly cropped is not the correct term. They are scaled. If you put a 1200x400 image with a 3.0 aspect ratio. I guess that since 1200 is almost 5 times bigger than 256 you basically have a 4+ time shrink on the x axis and thus the y axis "400" should be scaled accordingly becoming less than "100" while preserving the 3.0 aspect ratio. But I can be wrong.

< report >Yeah it's obvious the system doesn't crop them but scales them instead. I just linked it because that's where I saw the 256x300.

< report >Also it came to my mind that if you have the possibility always try to create the largest image possible. For example is much better to give a 500x600 picture instead of 250x300, while at the same time a 1000x1200 is better than a 500x600. If I recall correctly yorhel implemented the scale algorithm thorugh unix "convert" command in a way that the scaling avoids the blur, you can go through the thread if you are interested in this, probably it was a 2014-2015 topic.Last modified on 2021-04-24 at 12:55

It's also in the character image uploading tab. -.- Meh to myself.

< report >The problem I'm seeing is that the sizes of the tachie are all over the place. There are quite short characters, then there are ones who are 1920px wide.
I just can't help but feel that link looks much better than link even if the latter fills out the whole height. I will definitely make sure that all of them fill out the 256 width, but I don't want to sacrifice the quality of the character portrait for correct height
