< report >Maybe it's just me, but personally I think that VNs with the Nakige tag should be treated as minor spoilers. The reason why I think that is because a lot of Nakige works actually try achieving that by surprising the reader they are as such until later on in the plot, so while I can understand it can be useful for people that search for Nakige works, for those that get spoiled by accident looking for a VN and seeing it has the Nakige tag regardless of how good or not the VN is going to be, you'll not get the same experience by knowing already that you're reading a Nakige than if you didn't.Last modified on 2021-05-06 at 22:45

< report >I don't know about you, but I can find out whether a VN is a Nakige/Utsuge by seeing the cover, reading the description/etc. Now, differentiating between the two is what most important/difficult one, at least for me.
Most VNs is straightforward in telling the reader what kind of experience they're going to get. Of the few that doesn't, there's a specific tag for that, Genre Shift, or maybe it's more correct to say Tone Shift? Either way, I don't think making all Nakige a spoiler is right.Last modified on 2021-05-06 at 23:07

< report >A nakige and utsuge are often very close, only the later part or ending will determine if it is one or the other. Whoever though that utsuge is not almost always an ending spoiler clearly didn't consider it hard enough. As a result, nakige is also a spoiler because a VN wouldn't be tagged as a nakige if it was already tagged utsuge, so you can rule out any potentially depressing elements in it. Taking this to the logical extreme, all tags are spoilers, so my argument has completely broken down. Great.Last modified on 2021-05-06 at 23:41

< report >Let's put aside utsuge for the moment. Yes, some VNs have unexpected sad moment, but not all of them came out of nowhere, and certainly no surprise element. Would you be surprised about minori or Key's VNs having tear-jerker moments? No, they were so obvious since the beginning, that the story gonna be dramatic and heavy. You cannot be spoiled by something so transparent. By the way, anyone searching for nakige specifically would not care about spoiler, they would have to include even major spoiler, because if they wanted it specifically, getting concerned with surprise drama would contradict their wish.
Also, don't underestimate the amount of entries here double-tagged as both nakige and utsuge.
