< report >With the db now having implemented a 'machine translation' flag (which currently can only be used by moderators), I think it's sensible to have a dedicated thread where machine translations can be reported, so that they can be correctly flagged. That way they won't be reported over multiple different threads, like "Candidates for deletion" or "How to edit".

Moreover, a lot of MTs have been deleted from the db over the years, so feel free to ask for their undeletion here too.

< report >Ah, yes. A translation of a machine translation should still be flagged as an MTL.

Turkish translation of Steamy Sextet is MTL.
Where does that information come from?

I read its demo to see if it has a real Turkish translation. Spoiler alert: It doesn't, it's MTL. I could share some examples but I doubt VNDB has any mods that know Turkish.

< report >Totally forgot about another MTL, that is quite famous in Russian visual novel community.
KNS 2 "translation" by Ilya Medvedev (Илья Медведев) is actually an MTL.
You can see comments here.

There is more. The "translator" said himself that he just copied text from the English version in a Google translate and pasted in the novel. He said: "now my fingers can gently and swiftly, as a spider legs, press Tab+Alt Ctrl+C Ctrl+V. i have trained them". You can see the proof here. He did some editing afterwards, but it's still an MTL.Last modified on 2021-05-15 at 20:07

All their games have been released in "English" (machine translation from Russian).

Ah, yes. Giniro is definitely MTL. I've completely forgot it.

Every single game by BCH waves studio and its "subsidiaries": BCH waves studio
Rampaa has already mentioned them. I was simply looking if there is any more information about them. But with the games removed from Steam, it's hard to come up with any info. Oh, well, I'll flag them.

EDIT: Hey, Trickzzter, what do you think about the two releases that also contain a Chinese option: Run Away 2 and The Internship? Do you think it's also MTL'd? I guess it is, so I currently marked Chinese as MTL too.Last modified on 2021-05-16 at 13:51

< report >I don't know Chinese, but I'm pretty sure these were MTL'd too. BCH was a weird "studio", consisting of two Russian speaking students. One of them still has a page at VK link
If you look at screenshots from their games, for example from Run Away 2, you'll see a weird English. It's weird because it's pretty mush a Russian text written with English words.

I don't know why they never released their games in their mother tongue. They probably thought that Russian speaking player base is not big enough to actually bother with putting together a Russian script. It's much more profitable to make another asset flipper for English speaking players.

< report >I am tempted to flag Souls's English as MTL based on the screenshots, synopsis, trailer, and like two reviews complaining about the atrocious grammar. Need second opinion like I have no definite proof even though there is no doubt the "tl" is garbage.

What's in that abandoned reservoir? Everyone say that human snake is found there, and what is human snake?

< report >Do we really have to not judge every release by Moshi Youxi Zhongwenhua Xingqu Xiaozu as MTL because they deny it even though you can't possibly release 26 translations in 2017 alone for big games, with Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen: Hachimyoujin being well known for its difficulty? I mean, come on, even if they had like four different dedicated teams, it would be one 10-30 hours VN every two months, and still would be complete bullshit if you ask me. How gullible are we? Do we have any reason to not believe these are MTL?

Edit: apparently, they have a fuckload of translators in this team. It's almost like a farm.Last modified on 2021-05-24 at 10:23

It probably is an MTL, though I think we don't have any proof. Though I'm not sure if we have ever had any proof regarding SakuraGame either. It was just kinda obvious...

r34663 it's noted on the existing release that the text is MTL
Ugh... It's nekoHen. We'll probably have to split the patch into the MTL text translation and an interface patch. And do that for every nekoHen release.

You don't need to reply to follow the thread. You can just press the bell in the top right corner.

Not sure I believe that....
