< report >I'm hoping this game'll get localized at some point. I can see NekoNyan picking it up, since they translated Sankaku Ren'ai (albeit hilariously badly, probably on purpose), but it's a new VN, so it will probably be a while. Besides NekoNyan do have other projects going on, but we'll see.
What do you think?Last modified on 2021-06-05 at 22:11

< report >This is a pretty funny game with good ero, maybe it’s not for everyone but the humor hit the mark and made me laugh a lot. Also i love imoutos so thhe Nonoka route was perfection for me.
Of course it would be an good game for someone to localize, not that i really care though since i learned Japanese a long time ago precisely for the purpose of bypassing the need to wait for someone to translate the game.

< report >#4 I'm hoping it does too, because I want to pick up this VN together with Suki to Suki to de Sankaku Ren'ai. I haven't given up hope on Nekonyan localizing it yet. Also #3 and #5 what about it is garbage, anyway?

< report >Plot completely ruined romance, much weaker comedy than Koikari, horrible MC personality, shitty main heroines (especially Mari). If Yuna wasn't in this, it would've been a 1 out of 10.

< report >dtto, except the Yuna part. And instead of "weaker comedy" I would say "non-existent comedy". Especially bad when you play it after something like Koikari.

< report >To me it seems some people just don't like this kind of VN. I've seen similar debates with other VNs like Dal Segno, Wagamama High Spec, etc. I'm rather fond of those kinds of VN, wheras others obviously aren't a fan.
I wonder what I'll make of this game, though? I've downloaded the taikenban for this VN and personally I'm hoping Nekonyan will pick it up.Last modified on 2021-10-18 at 13:49

< report >Even though I speak as someone who hasn't played this title, but...
From what I can clearly tell Ren'ai X Royale is basically a moege (one can easily identify a moege because it will almost always have the four or five heroines on the box cover and the plotline is definitely moege).

I compare it to Dal Segno because people have said they didn't like it because the protagonist was crap or the story/romance was weak or the drama was out of place, etc. I quote u199598:
As for the story itself, it's very dry in execution, even when the ideas are grand. It has drama in spots, which just feels odd with the overall visual vibe; it doesn't seem like the appropriate delivery vehicle for drama. The characters spend most of their time playing a form of Sarcastaball, which translates to English (or "localizes") in a very esoteric way. It can get very circular, and you feel trapped in an endless cycle of conversations that get tedious. The main character can be rather alien and abrasive at times, and the individual girl's stories are hit and miss. The individual stories are not all bad, although against the backdrop of being an adult VN, they don't play well. There's one girl in particular who's story transitions to her only H scene very poorly, and the H scene was by far the worst of all the girls. It was very anti-climactic (heh), and the H-artist(s) did it no favors.

And as for Ren'ai X Royale I quote u28602:
It is impossible to explain why she has such an immense impact on all the characters and the reader's experience without resorting to minor spoilers (you find this out in the prologue) - Yuna is the protagonist's ex-girlfriend, whom he dated for several weeks one year before the plot of the game, and they both still love each other. Now it is obvious to everyone that the only possible route for romance in this "romcom" is Yuna's. All the other ones were ruined in that aspect before even beginning the game. And ironically enough, the game itself points this out - screenshot on imgur. The remaining part of romcom is comedy, which I see as the entire point of the main heroines' routes. I read the first hour of Mari's route, and I was appalled by the brazen cold-heartedness of the writer. I could not take the brutality any longer and went for Yuna's route, after which I closed the game. There is simply no way I could ever reconsider and read their routes.

Even after all that was said, I tend to judge a VN by
1) its art style. You'll probably notice numerous VNs on my blacklist are there because they had pixel art.
2) its heroines. Nearly all the VNs on my anticipation list are all moege or galge.
3) its length. The longer the better.
and sometimes...
4) its themes and settings. I think the two most attractive things about Ren'ai x Royale as far as I'm concerned are:
1. Like you say, Kagaya Yuna...
2. I quote the game description:
Being agitated by his juniors;
Hitting on the student council president;
Chasing after idols.
The protagonist who lives every day carelessly, Komachi Hirotaka.
10/10 amazing description! You don't get much better than that.Last modified on 2021-10-18 at 18:47

< report >It's a bakage. Everything is sacrificed for the comedy, which despite this falls flat. But if it comes out for eops and you enjoy it, I'm happy for you.

< report >Don't worry about it, in a game where the main (and probably only) purpose is to pick a girl to love, she's the least desirable to me, personally. Just from the characteristics alone. It's that simple, no convoluted excuses or whatnots. But a win for me though, as I wouldn't drop a game, a comedy moege at that, just because of a silly reason like that, right?

< report >I have enough idea about the fact that Yuna got too strong of a presence during the common route, given that whole Ex thing, that all other heroines got overpowered in the, you know, that whole Love Royale thing. Heck, that's just made it worse.

< report >The biggest presence in common is Mari, who's coincidentally also the source of MC's shitty personality and the destroyer of his relationship. If there's one single childhood friend that you should hate in the whole wide world, she's the one.
