< report >As you may know, the steam release has an really annoying glitch where the game will pause whenever it tries to load a new song. Well there's a fix for that. Here's how you fix the game:

1. Download this file
link

2. Insert it into the folder where Steam stores the game:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\True Love '95

It's that simple.Last modified on 2021-06-06 at 11:42

< report >This is the case for the original non-Steam version too, and has been since... I think Windows XP? Would this work on the non-Steam version then?

I didn't even know this had a Steam release... Who even owns the rights to this now?

*Edit*

Decided to test it myself since why not, and sure enough, it fixes the non-Steam version too. This would have been nice to have back when I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP! Although now that the annoying music pausing is fixed, maybe I'll do a playthrough of it for old times sake...Last modified on 2021-06-06 at 19:00

< report >I wonder how that went down...

Speaking of owning, I have a boxed copy of this game that I bought used from someone like 15-20 years ago to have as a keepsake. The description of the game on the box doesn't 100% match up with the premise of the game (NSFW pics below):

Front
Back

My German isn't very good, but I have some doubts about the description on the back too.

The contents on the CD is like 100MB, and I've never quite been able to figure out what the remaining space was used for.Last modified on 2021-06-06 at 19:29

< report >Both descriptions are very interestingly different. The german version makes little sense though. Part of it reads like "you" are the main character, but then part of it doesn't, and you try to get the girls to hook up with someone, be it a guy or girl.

Btw, if the CD has actually German language on it, vndb needs to be updated. I also wonder if this is the only officially to German translated "visual novel" then.

< report >I think even the download version has a German translation. There are two files in the folder of the copy I have installed (which is the downloaded version), one is called DATE and has the English text while another is called DATG and has german text. I have no idea how you switch between them short of renaming DATG to DATE.

Upon testing, it seems the UI is still in English though and the text has some display issues, possibly because I'm missing German fonts or something: Here's a screenshot I took just now

Maybe the install program on the CD gives you a choice between German and English, but I can't test since my new PC doesn't have a disc reader. The price of progress, I guess?

*Edit*

The sleeve on the inside of the box says "German Translation: Wilko Mueller", so I guess it's official.Last modified on 2021-06-06 at 22:48

< report >I thought this was gonna be an empty thread. I'm glad people are still talking about this game. The steam community was so dead...

< report >You might need to be in German locale in order for the font to work properly...

< report >I have to say that Steam edition was really disappointing - lowest-effort cash-grab. It's just repackaging of the old '90s version - I hoped for improved translation or at least bugfixes, but none of that...Last modified on 2021-06-07 at 07:56
