< report >Well "Americanisms" is likely cuz most of their staff/contractors are actually in America.
Many VN localization companies have people living in different countries.
For example Shiravune, and I believe Love Lab and MangaGamer (and MoeNovel lol) are based in Japan.

< report >I have to admit, I've avoided certain products from NekoNyan when I know certain people are involved with the translation, not hating NekoNyan, I've also purchased a number of their products too. To get into why I've avoided some of them - Making a Japanese teenager sound like a 30 year old American that wears a "Hello fellow kids" t-shirt isn't my idea of a good localisation. The lighter the touch the better, VN's are a very niche product to begin with, a light touch is fine as people reading these are already more in tune with JP culture than your average person, the audience is a lot smarter than they're given credit for.
Of course "localisation" is just a license to do whatever you want to begin with, there is no oversight or standards in this industry, bad translations and good translations get grouped into the same pile and sold just the same and you won't even necessarily know whether the translation is bad unless you're willing to wade through potential spoilers in discussion threads to get a feel for how it's being received. The problem with a bad translation is that once it's out, the chance of a retranslation is basically zero, I can count on one hand the number of times that has ever happened.

< report >Of course it's an english company because they translate the games in english and not in german. The Canaric Islands are also Spain and not Africa though they are in africa.

Nonono, that's not how it works.
1. NekoNyan is a German company, because it's headquarters is in Germany. It's also being taxed in Germany. The fact they're translating their licenses to English is for one reason:
Translating to English means bigger reach/audicence, hence resulting in more sales.
If they translated their licenses only to German the audience would be very limited.
2. Africa is a continent, not a country.
3. The Canary Islands are located on the African Tetonic Plate so they are, in fact, in Africa. The islands are just an African possession of the Kingdom of Spain. But your example here doesn't make much sense to begin with.Last modified on 2021-10-15 at 16:38
