< report >just finished it but sadly there were a few things i didnt really understood mostly thanks to my pea sized brain that sometimes fails to understand hato writting style and the fact that im sadly not fully fluent on japanesse yet.

1- how did yuki find out julia identity

2- how did saruyoshi found out about karasu, i totally mised the explanation

3- was karasu actually dying at the begining?, i naturally asumed that she dying was bullshit, but when other character mention anything about it, they make it sound like it was actually a serious thing.

4- garasu background, i didnt understand a single thing about it, the only thing i think i got right was that her current family wasnt her original oneLast modified on 2021-11-02 at 05:53

< report >Dont worry, everyone has brainrot to some degree just by being on the internet.

At least to my understanding,

1- Yuki didn't find out what Julia's identity was, if anything, Julia, or Saruyoshi, confessed to her after their show together at the festival.

2- Saruyoshi, during the sports festival at their school (Zoukibayashi), happened to catch his eyes upon a proposal being handed over to their school principal where their school was going to turn into a parking lot of all things.

Being Saruyoshi he went out of his way to see who was behind the project and lo and behold, the Tsukishima group. The daughter, Tsukishima Karasu, just happens to be a student of the all-girls school neighbouring Zoukibayashi, the Garasunomiya Girls School. The rest is history.

3- You can say that Karasu was literally dying of boredom. Her reasons for wanting to die wasn't bullshit. Karasu, when Saruyoshi first met her was literally 100% so done with her life, she'd rather die than live this 'life' of hers that her parents had laid out for. She had everything, but nothing she has had given 'fun' to her or made her life worth living.

4- She, unlike Yuki or Karasu, wasn't born from a wealthy family. Her mother gave birth to her when she was still out and about messing around with men, which gave the family a whole lot of trouble. As such, Garasu was entrusted to be in her aunt and uncle's care and took the Garasunomiya family name.

At this point (probably 10ish years ago?), the Garasunomiya family was just a small family living in the Zoukibayashi area. It wasn't until one day Garasu, at least it was implied, picked up a lottery ticket on the street that happened to be the one that hit the jackpot. Overnight the Garasunomiya family found themselves with a bunch of fortune and probably the school was built with that fortune too.

Because their fortune was built upon one single lottery ticket, her uncle was anxious to keep the Garasunomiya name afloat. As such Garasu was raised very strictly, everything was laid out for her by her uncle in hopes of further strengthening the family, even marrying her to another wealthy family should their family worth plummet (which kinda did in the story along with the Tsukishima group, hence the girls' reconsideration on their stance towards co-ed). She had almost no freedom. Only after enrolling into Garasunomiya, did she manage to get a small, cheap apartment flat for herself that she can finally call a place she can belong.Last modified on 2021-11-02 at 09:49

< report >I had the same question about this too

4- She, unlike Yuki or Karasu, wasn't born from a wealthy family. Her mother gave birth to her when she was still out and about messing around with men, which gave the family a whole lot of trouble. She had almost no freedom. Only after enrolling into Garasunomiya, did she manage to get a small, cheap apartment flat for herself that she can finally call a place she can belong.

From what I get from her story, she calls her parents "Uncle" and "Aunt" so I had doubt about her family not being the real one too. I also remember the part talking about she picked up a jackpot lottery on the street which made her family suddenly become wealthy and changed her life forever.

That's all I remember from her route. There is no other explicit explanation about her family after that. The next thing I know is she was entrusted to her "Uncle" and he told her to live like an ojousama in order to sell her to some rich family for frame and money. He also talked about her mother playing around with men a lot but never mentioned about her being born from unknown man if I remember correctly. Once again, I wonder what the heck happened to her real parents after all this time.

Your explanation is very good and covers all of my questions but may I ask where you got all of those info from the story? Or are they just your assumptions from the few provided info? No offense because I'm just curios about many things I don't remember in her story like:

Overnight the Garasunomiya family found themselves with a bunch of fortune and probably the school was built with that fortune too.

Does this mean she is daughter of founder of the school? I thought it was strange that her name is the same as the school's name but didn't pay attention and forgot about it later too since the game never mentions about it.

Because their fortune was built upon one single lottery ticket, her uncle was anxious to keep the Garasunomiya name afloat.

I still remember about Saru being surprised at her family name when he comes to pick her up at her uncle's house and I was like "???" Does this mean her uncle took her away from her own parents or something? Because the story did say she was living a happy life with her average family before picking up the ticket. This means she did have parents and was not a half-orphan with unknown father since her mother was playing around.

I don't know if this is the author's writing style or this game was intended to be vague and lacking of info from the beginning but it got me confused a lot while reading. I'm pretty confident in my japanese but not memory so I might have missed many important things.

< report >#3 i think the vagueness its mostly hato's writing style, he loves to explain important things in very vage and indirect ways. he wasnt that bad in monkeys but in noratoto 2 especially on iris route, i pretty much failed to grasp what the hell even happened to iris kingdom and how were things even resolved because, hato decided that explaining things in such a way was enough.Last modified on 2021-11-02 at 18:40

< report >Hato always does this to make the reader actually think instead of putting the candy directly into your mouth. You have to retcon every single event cuz they lowkey throw you tons of info. Like for example about Mebachi's mom having schizophrenia/mental problems (developed most likely cuz the wars).Last modified on 2021-11-02 at 18:44

< report >#4 #5 I didn't even notice it's the same author of nora lol. No wonder it's random af and the scenes just jump from one to another abruptly without any foreshadowing.

Like for example about Mebachi's mom having schizophrenia/mental problems (developed most likely cuz the wars).

This is very confusing too. In the end, I still had no idea if Ai is Mebachi's mother possessing her or it's another personality she created based on her dead mother to protect herself from danger.

They were mostly my assumptions based on the very limited information that's spread throughout the story haphazardly yeah. It was my best attempt on making sense of the story, I guess.

As for her being the daughter of the founder of Garasunomiya I'm not sure. But there was this brief moment in Karasu's route that really stood out to me was that: as she finishes her speech with her stating her name and position in the school, she referred to herself in a different last name. So that's where the assumption I had about she taking the Garasunomiya family name. She may not be originally, but after being taken into Garasunomiya she would be.

Because the story did say she was living a happy life with her average family before picking up the ticket. This means she did have parents and was not a half-orphan with unknown father since her mother was playing around.

I'm not so sure about this one, my understanding of it was more that the "family" was referring to her aunt and uncle's. Because Karasu's brief retelling was that even though they've got the riches from the lottery, that financial freedom didn't mean her (Garasu's) freedom was guaranteed.
富があれば、自由になれるということでもない
自由になれないことの苦しさは、私もわかるわ
And Karasu shares that pain with her. Both despite having the riches couldn't find or do the things they want to do.

Another thing was that right before Garasu attends the dinner party with Julia, her fiance came to meet Garasu and her uncle, to which her uncle said:
あの子の母親はね。結婚もしないで子ども作るような女でね
Unless there's like 1000 layers deep of context I'm missing あの子の母親 should be referring to her mother who gave birth to Garasu. She's not married. Where she has gone off too, not sure. I guess you can call it a family but the hint I was getting here from Hato's vague writing was to draw parallels to Saruyoshi's fractured family background. And that her uncle has alot of trouble raising her as his surrogate daughter. To which basically he flats out says his reasoning for marrying her off to somebody else rich enough was that:
教育というのは、大変ですよ。苦労しました。その分、これからうん十年と親孝行してもらわないと
And after the ruckus Julia caused at the party and she telling his uncle that she wanted to live with someone she truly loves, to which he retorted with anger in his words:
なんだ?恩知らずなのかお前は。預けられたお前をこっちは苦労してな
Her mother, at least in my assumptions, didn't had the financial ability to raise or, or even gave a shit in the first place, whatever the reason may be. Which was why Garasu was entrusted to her uncle and aunt's, and gave alot of trouble in the process, in his words, which he probably didn't have much of a choice. As such he's marrying off Garasu to pay off this "childcare"(?) debt that her mother has basically put upon the relatives. If she did had a family before this one, it wouldn't make sense from the uncle's perspective to all of a sudden drag shit (more problems, raising Garasu for one) onto his plate given how much he's being a petty ass. They could've just cut all contact with her mother and Garasu and let them live their own lives (even moreso if it was Garasu's original family that had the lottery).

I somewhat also remember Garasu calling her aunt to catch up with things after she left the Garasunomiya household along with Saruyoshi, and referring to her as Okaa-san (probably in a surrogate sense), but I can't be bothered to find the exact quote on this one, so don't take me seriously on this one. Her aunt to some degree did try her best raising her, and with her uncle so hell-bent on money not knowing about the lottery ticket, he had no choice but to raise her. In a sense, they did live a "happy" life before that.

In the end of the day this is just my headcanon, pay no heed if you have one that you thinks makes more sense.Last modified on 2021-11-03 at 18:48

Thanks for your hard work, my fellow comrade in trying to figure out this mess. In the end, I guess all we could do is to assume everything from the very few info of the game.

during her (Garasu)'s speech at the theatre she confessed to lying about her family name

We all know her current family name is certainly not Garasunomiya because Saru was surprised when he came to her house. This is why I came up with the conclusion that due to some complex circumstance, her "uncle" took her away from her real family Garasunomiya which is founder of the school after becoming wealthy and she has to hide her new/current family name because of it. Otherwise, I have no idea how and why she took the Garasunomiya name when attending school.Last modified on 2021-11-03 at 16:37

< report >Thanks to your explanation, it does make sense now if she has only one family with the "uncle and aunt" before and after the ticket incident since her real mother couldn't afford to raise her if she was just playing around with men. However, the Garasunomiya family name still remains mystery :)

< report >No problem, apologies for just typing all this shit out and may seem a chore to read, there may or may not could've been a more elegant summarization but ultimately like you said its up to debate what the fuck is going on because Hato refuses to elaborate any further lmao.Last modified on 2021-11-03 at 16:42

I also remember this part too so no need to double check lol. I got confused here at first too when she suddenly switches to "mother". Well, I guess it's just as you say at this point.

You are absolutely right, mate. And I hate myself that I couldn't give this sloppy, lazy and messed up writing style less than 9 lmao.

You tell me man, here I am with a 9.5. I guess despite the sloppy mess the overall scenario resonated with me alot, and that is enough of a reason for me despite the shortcomings.Last modified on 2021-11-03 at 17:09
