< report >This is one of the most heavily edited western release versions I've seen. The restoration patch says translating and editing H scenes but with this game, I feel a full fan translation of the original is actually the easiest way to fix this mess.

< report >Does anyone have a list of all the changes they made? So far I know that:
1. They changed CGs and sprites to more modest outfits
2. School was changed to university and ages were censored.
3. H-scenes were removed

I feel a full fan translation of the original is actually the easiest way to fix this mess
I agree, I'm not touching this until a full restoration patch is out and someone verifies it's as close to the original as possible.Last modified on 2022-01-05 at 17:29

< report >This isn't a strictly western release by another publisher, Laplacian's doing it themselves. This is going to be Laplacian's definitive version going forward, for both English and Japanese, as it features both. They voiced their intention of rewriting the scenario from the moment this release was announced. All the other changes are likely to fit the new setting that doesn't feature h-scenes, including the more modest sprites.
This is all inline with their internal policy changes of writing all-ages scenarios moving forward, as until then their h-scenes had been inserted into games for the sake of the market, which has shifted in recent years especially due to consoles. This is made even more obvious by the fact that the h-scenes aren't written by the main writer. Because of this, it's obvious that Laplacian hasn't cared about their hentai from the beginning, so I don't see why you should too.

Any fan translation for it is going to be a massive waste of time. Any restoration patch will be too big of a task.

< report >Guess its not enough for them that case 0 sucks, they need to kill the good parts of the game as well (case 1 and 3). Well I for one am glad I got to play it before the changes got made.

< report >If they isn't going to be a proper release of the original version given to the Japanese market im not touching it. Little busters didn't originally have h scenes and I didn't throw a fit for the version with it. It's the fact were being denied the product that Japanese got.

< report >Well, technically, you're getting the same revised version that the Japanese will get. Just imagine it as remake that'll get a English release.

< report >Probably not, but lets see. I myself am curious with how they handle things with this All-Ages ver.

< report >i kind of agree with the OP that a fantranslation of the original sounds like the only practical way to play the original.

this isn't a quickie edit of some things cut out to be 'restored'. the new version is NEW. it's a totally separate thing.

i'm not pitching a fit about it being 'butchered' or anything, maybe it's fine as its own thing, but it's not an accurate rendition of the first release, so if you actually want to play that first release, it won't suit.

< report >>more modest outfits
If you want to suck steam’s dick, makes sense to follow the teaching of the biggest industry’s cocksucker: nutaku.

You are not very clear guys about the rewritting. Are we talking about a remake that needs to be split (sounds absolutely ridiculous) or just your typical all-age censorship butchering?
Edit: I thought it was out but it’s not so I don't know how you know this needs a retl.Last modified on 2022-01-05 at 02:04

< report >dude do some googling its basically a completely redone story removing the 18+ content and making all heroines good little christian girls. its egregious, id have no issue with laplacian transferring over to all ages, hell even if they wanted to rewrite this story. but to only offer this altered version to the western audience while the japanese audience gets both is unfair and censorship

< report >And now Laplacian made an English twitter account with the sole purpose of trolling those of us upset with this garbage.
Their main twitter account now says in its description that "Our management policy is "bad name is better than no name"". Hilarious, I'm sure everyone's really cracking up.

< report >It's Gambs who made the Reddit thread, so take the title with a huge grain of salt even though it's justifiably upset with what Laplacian did (And they also edited the video lazily along with them hid the original opening, yet I didn't see much of it commented).

< report >The main twitter account does say that though, and it has almost 20k followers, so I doubt it's fake.

Edit: The English account is also real, their main account is retweeting the English account.Last modified on 2022-01-05 at 09:54

< report >Turns out, it very much is censorship just for the English release. Just compare case 1 descriptions for jp and en versions of the site. Nowhere does it mention that Rin is a university student, or that the MC is a university teacher on the jp version.Last modified on 2022-01-05 at 08:54

< report >Don't attempt to reason with these people #15, the mental gymnastics they undergo to support censorship and believe they're somehow getting the superior version is baffling.

< report >which "these people"? The ones of us who are saying "yes, it's a different version and should be split off"?

"it's CENSORSHIP because the word UNIVERSITY was added!" is still ridiculous whining which sounds every bit as silly as claiming that nothing was changed at all.

(It should be forked to its own entry, shouldn't it? The tags would be wrong for the original, otherwise.)Last modified on 2022-01-05 at 15:28

< report >If we split, every butchered release will spam a new vn entry. It’s better to link it to the entry like always and ignore this garbage exists. For a moment, I thought they rewrote it entirely but they are just accomodating their censorship. It’s not a remake, as much as eroge to console conversions are not too.

< report >To avoid Steam's banhammer which seems to be very sensitive to high school settings ;) Perhaps they hope that the reviewer won't check other languages.

And it isn't new, it's actually older than Steam.

When JAST published Season of Sakura back in 1996 they also changed setting to enigmatic "prep school that is between high school and college" and shifted characters' ages up to make them all over 18. On the other hand, they also provided unmosaiced HCGs ;)

< report >as long as the steam version uses the cs2 engine then modding it to be like the original wouldn't be too hard just stick all the changed files into an update.int file, drop it into the install directory, and your done.

< report >yeah i actually offered to help the guy working on the restoration patch if it is
i've made some steam patches for the grisaia trilogy that restores the 18+ content
while still having access to the unique cgs from the steam release
and thankfully the file structure of the ints in daydream and grisaia are nearly identical
so i could handle the engine work while he focuses on translating the 18+ content

haven't heard back yet thoughLast modified on 2022-01-06 at 03:19

< report >ohhh your the guy that did that. i was really surprised to see that, it also answered a question at some point i played an all ages version and say yuuji tackling the guy at the beginning and was really confused how every time i played i somehow missed a linear cg
