< report >There is an actual ALICE IN DISSONANCE game that is coming out next week, seven years after their last game?????? What is going on? Did they finish porting milestone one's director's cut of the director's cut to 3DO and MSX?

I thought the catch was that this is only a part of StP i.e. 2H appetizer but it says 200k characters so it should be around 15-20 hours.
I pray that the vectorial is well done coz I dislike this stuff more and more.

I am glad they are back because that means I can finally read fault - milestone two Jou. My only problem is that I forgot all the details of the first game...

Edit: they stopped supporting Linux (and Mac)... ? Did they ditch Ren'py to be able to insert all their pretty effects? Edit2: yes, it appears so.Last modified on 2022-06-26 at 23:31

< report >200k characters are 400kb, aka 4-6 hours for unvoiced VNs.

< report >I don't know why you ignored Mhakna Gramura to Fairy Bell but it exists and is a part of the fault universe, even if it's small. Demos for SiP were released in 2017 as well.

The reason it took so long (I'm assuming) is that they're trying to make their VNs more animated and as you may have noticed they had to switch engines to do so. I'm all for higher quality if it means waiting. Plus, if you forgot stuff, the games are short enough that a reread will only take a day or 2.

What I'm confused about is why they didn't do any visual update for milestone two above after all this time. It seems to me that they might release the visual update alongside (or after) they release milestone two below.

< report >What would be one of my post without my stalker nitpicking on something I said for the sake of it? Why do I have to explain that I deliberately ignored a 2H long VN and... DEMOS, in the middle of seven years of a wait for something substantial?

The reason why it took so long according to link is because of unstable development brought by staff turnover. You are also right about them trying new tech. Iirc, they are switching to that since a very long time now and probably is one reason for the instability. Call it indecisiveness or perfectionism.
Edit: without surprise, they switched to Unity.

Btw, another one of those games you don't know if you need to split or not lol. >.>
Also weird way to sell it as "StP" like if everybody knew what that means.Last modified on 2022-05-18 at 06:28

< report >Again, please curb your ego, I knew this franchise before I knew about any of your antics. Plus, the franchise is built on small VN experiences, it feels kind of weird to ignore them like that (especially when said 2 hour experience is actually pretty good).

Silence the Pedant has point and click systems and some other stuff we probably don't know of. Their presentation is starting to resemble some early Type-Moon or Rewrite stuff, so it's probably something to do with the animation too. They probably found that Renpy was already reaching its limit, or would do so in the future, so they switched as soon as they could. Makes sense to me, but yeah, staff turnover would definitely delay it more.

Btw, another one of those games you don't know if you need to split or not lol.
Well, this is my interpretation of it, from the Steam page and that comment you linked:
1. The Silence the Pedant full release will be a compilation release featuring all the Silence the Pedant stories.
2. These StP stories will be released individually first, LIGHTKRAVTE being the first.

Whether the individual stories should have their own entries or be partials within an entry is up to you I guess. I'd say that the latter makes more sense, just because the stories all have the "StP" subtitle, and are clearly meant to be part of Silence the Pedant full release... Unlike, say, Muv-Luv Photonflowers/melodies, where the stories were all released individually without relation to each other, and then later compiled into one fandisc-esque release for easier access.Last modified on 2022-05-18 at 15:39

< report >Originally it was meant to be 1 game but it has now evolved into a prequel series and Silence the Pedant is just 1 of the eventual many within the prequel series now. Lightkravte should have it's own separate entry.
