|< report >Apparently MAGES. actually puts them under the same group now. Chiyomaru Shikura at least said so recently on Twitter. |
Here's the link to his tweet: link
He also did it in 2012 as well: link

|< report >That's interesting to hear, though I'm not inclined to fully trust a machine translation alone. And I don't think the tweet from 2012 is an explicit enough confirmation.|
I think this matter may be worth discussing with the rest of the site before reaching a decision.
Personally, my stance is that these two VNs should not be considered part of the Infinity series for now at least. They weren't originally envisioned as such.
In fact, MAGES. didn't even own the series at the time of their development. At the time, MAGES.' only direct involvement with the series to my knowledge was that they made the Ever17 remake under the name 5pb. They apparently later acquired the series from Kaga Create, but I don't think they did anything with it except sell digital copies of the PC versions. And this didn't include code_18, so they may have never purchased that VN.
If Chiyomaru considers them part of the series now, he is only speaking as the guy running a company who now owns the series, but never really did anything meaningful with it. Unless there's a statement in a more official place that these two VNs are now part of the Infinity series, I think classifying them as such would be premature.
In fact, even if such an announcement were to happen, it would just be a marketing move. I'd still question if we should comply with something like that. It's like how 12Riven was originally envisioned as the first entry of the Integral series, which was going to be a sister series of the Infinity series that merely shares the same setting. But when it flopped and never got any sequels, Cyberfront started marketing it as if it were part of the Infinity series. Yet we still only treat it as sharing a setting here.

The machine translation is mostly a mess but I already checked it with several Japanese speakers. He said that they put Dunamis15 and Disorder6 in the same group as the Infinity series. Also, yes they do own both 12RIVEN and Code_18 as when MAGES. (5pb. at the time) bought the entire Cyberfront assets from Kaga Create which included the entire KID library as well. He also talks how he'd love to remake the entire Infinity series title in the Anonymous;Code engine (read Kaleido ADV Workshop, same engine that Dunamis15 is running on). I wonder if they're really planning on doing something as Ever17 is officially no longer on sale on DMM (Never7 and Remember11 are still there). Same happened with PC versions of Memories Off when they announced the HD remasters for PS4/Switch.
Leaving that aside, I don't mind if we leave them as separate for now. Interestingly enough, either they don't consider 12RIVEN as part of the Infinity or they just completely forgot its existence.Last modified on 2022-11-24 at 20:57
