I'm not asking you to write long explanations in the summary, but short sentences like "add description" or "typo", or if adding traits you could even write "+4" for example. When creating new entry you can write "new char" "new release", nothing too complicated. Writing "upd", "---", "++" or ".." to everything is not useful to anyone. You can read t19234 if you want to know more.Last modified on 2023-02-06 at 06:51 |

Something like "Typo Fix" or "Adding a Description" or "Minor/Large Edit" or "Other (Explain reason in the edit summary)" and such. Most (but not all) of the time that I use --- it is for so miniscule of an edit that it comes down to a punctuation fix or replacing a single word with a synonym, something easily trivialized explaining with the tick of a box rather than having to write it up every single time. My more significant edits usually receive more concise write ups.Last modified on 2023-02-07 at 10:08 |
#5 by Ezezin 2023-02-07 at 12:56 | < report >It takes less than 5 seconds to write "typo" in the summary. No need for caps, punctuation or grammar, but informing what you did. Moreover, you also started writing "Edited" to some entries (c116553.17, v38604.15) which is almost the same as writing "---". Something simple like "edit desc" or "new desc" is enough, or just "desc". Though I still heavily recommend users to write the exact type of edit they did (like "new description", "staff roles for official translation", "more specific trait applies", "fixed weird grammar in description", "new [website name] link" etc.) I won't force anyone to be that specific. At the very minimum, I ask you to write the field/s you edited. As an example for very short summaries, you can take a look at some of username15903 edits. For the record, I'm not saying that you have to do this because I say so. We mods and maybe a handful of other users tend to check the recent changes page and edit histories regularly for problematic entries or wrong information, and it helps a lot when editors summarize what they did, making our jobs easier and faster. I understand it can be seen as a waste of time for something that's not registered in the entry, but it only takes a few seconds to write something and you will help someone a lot by doing it.Last modified on 2023-02-07 at 13:01 |
