I hope it gets linked here on VNDB somewhere after it's published. It could be an interesting read. I myself am going for a PhD in a few years, but in a completely different field. I almost wish I could do mine on VNs or something similar when the time comes... Regardless, it will be nice to see more actual scholarly work about this medium. What I really wish is to see the reaction from a reviewer in an academic journal who knows nothing about the medium having to get a basic understanding about it. It's a shame that we will never get to see it since that part doesn't get published. I just imagine some old man in academia needing to read someone meticulously explain what moege and nukige are, or what a fandisk made because a popular girl didn't get any route/h-scenes is. Another thought is if there is a dissertation defense or viva, imagine having to explain these things directly to a group of academics. It seems like a wild ride. |
