#2 by amittesukku 2023-03-22 at 18:55 | < report >I'll bite. My general preferences tend to skim towards guys who are young (sometimes younger than the MC), short and generally cute. (I like a tsundere, too.) Starting from the top: Shin from AMNESIA - Despite not looking like it, he's just a few years younger than the protagonist. He's a tsundere, but on the whole I remember him being very proactive when it came to helping MC regain her memories. Nathaniel from Amour Sucré - Possibly the most easily approachable LI from the very start of the game? It's hard to put in words, considering I've been trying to play this one for about 11 years now. I like guys who are supposed to appear intelligent, I guess. Since he's the school council president, perhaps it's easy to find him trustworthy. Toudou Heisuke from Hakuouki ~Shinsengumi Kitan~ - The cute guy of the bunch; my bias aside, I think that he might be the best fit for the MC simply because they're (probably?) the closest in age and so he doesn't seem as intimidating as most of the other guys. Sakazaki Yuuya from Hatoful Kareshi ~Kibou no Gakuen to Shiroi Tsubasa~ - This one's weird, because he's "the flirty one", AKA the type I usually can't stand. I suppose that's just the power of this exact game, lol. Knight from Makai Ouji to Miwaku no Nightmare - Another token cute guy (he *really* stands out, considering all the other guys are so tall), voiced by my favorite seiyuu (Shimono Hiro); I originally started playing the game just for him. Also a tsundere. Considering how big the cast is, from the routes I've played so far I also enjoyed Toa Quifer because of how his demeanor changes as he gets closer to the MC and Rio Lezele due to how cheerful and optimistic to a fault he is. Ichinose Senri from Norn9 ~Norn + Nonette~ - Despite having so many traits commonly regarded as negative, he checks most of my boxes. I also liked Shukuri Akito's route because of the dynamic between him and the MC, and Otomaru Heishi, since he's a rather cheerful cutie as well. Toratani Rikka from STORM LOVER - To be fair, I still haven't played through all of the available routes, but Rikka is the one. He loves to tease the MC, which is a perfect fit for this series being all about getting a boyfriend and living out your high school life with him. He had an unexpectedly touching backstory as well. Kim Yoosung from Susanghan Messenger - Many seem to dislike Yoosung for living like all he'd be good at is being a kept man, but I didn't see him that way at all. He's a student and a gamer, and so he's not the best at cooking and skips his classes occasionally, but I prefer looking at his good qualities - how open he was to the MC right from the start, considering she meets everyone in such a weird situation, offering to help her get used to things and play games with her. Yagami Nayuta from VARIABLE BARRICADE - I only started playing this one recently, but Nayuta checks pretty much all of my boxes; you could even say I bought the game just for him. |
#3 by wayo 2023-03-24 at 13:33 | < report >Whaaa, many thanks for the answer ! There's really a lot to love in thoses entries. Some are out of my reach as I don't have a psp or a vita, Storm lover particularily looks really awesome. I think I'll start with Makai Ouji to Miwaku no Nightmare. I don't know why but the mood is really appealing to me on this one. Many thanks again : ) |
#4 by amittesukku 2023-03-24 at 13:46 | < report >No, thank you for asking! Discussions on otome games show up very rarely on this forum, so I'm always happy to see someone wanting to talk about them :) Since you don't seem to have played any mobile VNs, here's a heads-up: Makai Ouji to Miwaku no Nightmare limits you to one chapter of a route per day, so unless you're planning to become a paid player, expect a route to take a month. You can switch freely between routes, though, if you want to try something different (no progress will be lost). Basically, don't give up too soon (the writing is worth it!). I'll be curious to hear what you thought! |
#5 by sakata-sann 2023-03-24 at 17:09 | < report >Oh man, I didn't play enough otome to have one character per VN, basically I love every boy from the few I played but thanks for asking so I can add to my wanna play list from the answers here. The one otome I did have an only favourite is AMNESIA, Kent the logic and rational man voiced by Ishida Akira, and that makes me remember Nanami Kanata from Starry☆Sky ~in Spring~ voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (the childhood friend who is ill but in spite of his poor health wants to protect the heroine) yeah, basically I choose mostly for the seiyuu. Sadly I don't have a psp, vita and neither a switch. It's not much and I don't have a clue on how to link to the VN or the character, sorry. |
#6 by amittesukku 2023-03-24 at 20:35 | < report >#5 No need to apologize! Here's how to link to things from the database: link PSP and Vita can be emulated, but since emulation is a legally gray area, for legal reasons I can't talk much more about that. Switch can be emulated too, from what I've heard, but it's a current generation console, so emulating it would mean developers you presumably want to support don't get any money. I wanted to try and recommend a PC otome game that has an English translation to brighten the mood of this post, but it seems you've already seen just about anything I could think of :) |

#8 by carri-mihome 2023-04-08 at 12:57 | < report >Western VNs take. Generally, lately I find myself crushing more on token female rivals, who, alas, are straight and unromanceable... but other than that, my preference tends to lie in stern, tall, preferably-blond types and cold rogues. Probably all love interests in Reverie: Ebon Light are very nice ('probably' because I don't remember what my opinion of Ernol was). Personally, I liked Laceaga and Duliae the most (the relationship with the former starts rather hostile, and the latter treats you as a political asset). And while Commander Calipoa doesn't swing that way, winning their respect is also an option (which can be combined with one of the possible endings for a bit of wishful thinking headcanoning). Calderon and Damon from Andromeda Six because: see my preferences above. While I had some issues with the worldbuilding / the story itself, those didn't spoil the romance parts. Word of caution: I've only played up to episode 4 before putting it down to wait for the full release, and it looks like the writer for Damon (and June and Ayame) has left the project, so I'm unsure of his current status. Alexei from The Blind Griffin, with the reasoning deducible from this screenshot. Karel from Cardinal Cross I recall being a likable, non-shy alternative to the usual timid nerd archetype, though he suffers from the story focusing more on the other male love interest, Egon (whom in the end I couldn't force myself to care for because of his, let's say, questionable ethics). It also just so happens to have a strict blond love interest who's also the female rival (Pious), and the other rival (Kieran), while not romanceable, is a cool bad boy and plays a role in the story. I also quite liked both guys in Nachtigal, although I've played it too long ago to remember the details why (might've been Stockholm syndrome or the additional thrill from your survival not being guaranteed). Oh, and Anzo from The Bare Escape. Though that may be in part due to the whole comedy thing. |
