< report >Does Metarugiasoriddo: Dejitarugurafikkunoberu count as a VN?

The MGS wiki (link) describes it as
a digitized version of the Metal Gear Solid comic drawn by Ashley Wood that has been edited to feature sound effects, animations, and music. In the PSP version, users can zoom in and out of the images using the analog stick and scan specific points of interest as they progress through the story. These scanned images are then stored in a database, which can then be linked together to access more in depth information.

There's a full playthrough here.

< report >You have actually linked to the wrong playthrough. That link is for the MGS2 Digital Novel, which is and has always been a movie. The correct link is here.

From what I can see, the original PSP edition of MGS Novel has to be advanced manually, thus I suppose it plays similarly to a kinetic novel. There is reportedly some interactivity, where you can scan background objects for information. Later issues on DVD and BD have turned it into a movie with no interactivity, too.

I think that at least the PSP edition could qualify for a VN. Any other thoughts about it?

< report >I think that, if it stays, main title should be changed to "Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel" (as can be seen even on included cover scan) instead of romanized katakana, which should figure as alias - definitely would be more recognizable that way.

< report >That's obvious. I simply made no changes to the title yet, because I'm not yet sure if it stays.

< report >Oh, sorry about the wrong link.

It feels borderline to me, so I'm not going to object to the PSP version.

Metarugiasoriddo: Dejitarugurafikkunoberu wth with the romaji title omg
Well, as no one provided any objections to this title's inclusion, and I don't have any particular objections either, I have fixed the title.

The only question, should the game be marked as English or Japanese? It is a direct adaptation of a comic book, which was created by Kris Oprisko, however Kris himself mostly took the original dialogues from the MGS game, and simply inserted them into the comic with few changes. So, to put it simply, "Digital Novel" is an adaptation of an American comic, which is an adaptation of a Japanese game, and it was first released in US...Last modified on 2021-02-22 at 16:29

< report >surely the original source series being japanese doesn't affect it. the maker of the comic book, which the game is a port of basically, is english-speaking, so they probably used the english script for the comic so it's english, right?Last modified on 2021-02-22 at 19:27

< report >r57925 is the same as r50913 except it was put through this converter which just does a few tweaks to make VNDS visual novels work on the Vita VNDS interpreter. It should probably be deleted.

You can find tracks that CthulhuSeeker has composed for Code Zero on their SoundCloud: link. The logo on SoundCloud is different than that on VNDB and on the current Code Zero website, but was announced here by one of the Code Zero developers (Yoso) and liked by CthulhuSeeker (with an h): link

< report >Release r59729 has possibly been cancelled. The Steam store page was converted into another title, namely Negligee: DoubleD. This happened about half a year ago (SteamDB). But I haven't been able to find any official announcement about this.

< report >#3645 It's a complete mess, but I don't think they are the same game.

As far as I can tell from their portfolio (link), BotN was an self-published title by Stranger Games and later they developed War & Romance as a title published by The Game Forest.

There have been multiple releases of both, some of which are still available:
BotN: link link
W&R: link link

If nobody objects and if nobody else wants to do it, then I'll go through it all and add the releases I can find within the next couple of days.

EDIT: After looking into it a bit more, I have to say that I am completely confused. The two titles could well be the same game.Last modified on 2021-02-24 at 23:06

< report >This seems to (sorta) answer it:
We have decided to release the story of the game as an independent product and call it 'Bride of the Nile' which is an immersive novel release on indie game stand, you can get it here.
[link to indiegamestand]

Thus we rebranded the game as War & Romance, since Bride of the Nile now is the title of the Immersive Novel or Visual Novel.

By best interpretation of events is as follows:

1. Stranger Games start working on a hybrid VN/hack-and-slash title named Bride of the Nile. An early version of this game is published on DLSite (link) and on Game Jolt (link).
2. They run a failed crowdfunding campaign for Bride of the Nile on indiegogo (link).
3. At some point they decide to rebrand the game as War & Romance, and release the VN part as Bride of the Nile (see above).
4. Later they decide to publish the game through The Game Forest.
5. They then seemingly give up on the action-game part and proceed to release the VN part using both names on a variety of platforms (e.g. link and link both released in 2017), some of which are published through TGF.

It is unclear if there are any differences between the VNs with different names, but I don't care enough to spend money on it to find out.

< report >Should it be considered premature to add full-version releases for kickstarter games that haven't even completed their kickstarters yet? Especially ones that pretty clearly will not reach their goals?

This isn't really a question of deleting existing ones, more a general practice question.

< report >It is obviously premature to add releases that are not yet confirmed. You can add releases from ongoing KS if the KS is popular and you don't see it fail, but for your case it is just a bother.
Even from an information point of view, you are just making users believe your game is coming, more than showing them that a KS is under way (like you expect them to read the notes if there are ones). For that, a forum post is better.
