< report >Osadai was released by JAST, not MangaGamer.

JAST is also far more well-known and has a much more established brand and image than MG ever will.

Also the Sharin FD translation came out last year unless you're talking about that awfully translated nonsense that some unaffiliated person did on TLWiki recently. We have nothing to do with that and none of the members of the team endorse it in any way.Last modified on 2012-01-02 at 01:12

... What the hell, I would have sworn it was an MG release... O_o
Whatever, thanks for the correction.

As for the image issue, honestly, in my circle, more people know about MG than JAST, so I started from there...

Finally... Uh... You are right about the Sharin FD as well, I only checked that it was a full release and not which one... Just shows that one shouldn't write a retrospective half-asleep on the first day of the year... Mea culpa. -.-'

< report >Hoi yorhel,

adding a new visual novel with an alias results everytime in a: 500 - Internal Server Error (Oops! Looks like something went wrong on our side.)
If you delete the alias all works fine again.

Seems to need fixing.

< report >I'm not in really the mood for large updates, so I'm making some gradual updates here and there.

I just added the possibility to vote with more granularity than the simple 1-10: If you go to a VN page when logged in, there's a special "Other" option when changing your vote: this allows specifying your vote as 7.6 or 9.3, etc. Only one digit after the decimal is allowed, though.

I hope I didn't break anything with this, since I haven't spend as much time on testing as I usually do with larger updates. Feedback welcome.

< report >Thanks for the update.

However, I think maybe you should change all the whole numbers to X.0 format, just for the sake of aesthetics so the decimal votes don't stand out so much.

< report >Looks like I underestimated the popularity of this feature. In less than 17 hours, 47 people have changed a total of 1287 votes to add an extra digit.

However, I think maybe you should change all the whole numbers to X.0 format, just for the sake of aesthetics so the decimal votes don't stand out so much.
I'll experiment with it a bit and see how it'll look. I didn't do that immediately because the extra digit is still pretty rare, and the many listings with only natural numbers wouldn't look much prettier with all the extra .0's.

Anyway, another smallish update (more of a change to the server config than one to the code): I'm experimenting with a caching proxy in front of VNDB. VN/producer/release/character/tag/trait pages and their listings are cached for 60 minutes, everything else 30 seconds. This is only used when you're not logged in, however.

EDIT: Oops, looks like it was also caching the IE-sucks page and serving that to non-IE users. Fixed.
EDIT#2: Another oops, the main page was part of the long-term cache as well. Fixed.Last modified on 2012-01-11 at 22:00

< report >Is there anyway that the ranges could be shown on the vote chart that show up on user and game pages? (like 10 being 9.5-10 or 9 being 8.5-9.4, since that's what it actually is now) or would that end up being too much work.

I guess that might not look too great though since the range is kinda strange, would've thought that it would be like 1.0-1.9 = 1, 2.0-2.9 = 2 and so on with 10 being exactly 10Last modified on 2012-01-11 at 18:54

< report >You can try the color-coding bar thing that erogamescape does if possible. Votes of x5 and x9 are represented with part of the bar being orange and votes in x0 to x4 in red. That way the charts don't get cluttered and you can still see at a glance where most of the scores areLast modified on 2012-01-11 at 19:14

I actually did that, but besides screwing up the layout (can be fixed) and not looking very great, it also makes it harder to see at a quick glance what each bar represents. The main essence should be that the higher bars are better than the lower bars, that the votes are rounded in that grouping is mostly a detail which you only need to realize once. :-)

You can try the color-coding bar thing that erogamescape does if possible.
t98.10 does exactly that, but I personally prefer the colors as they are.
EDIT: Oh, I realize you meant something different. Hmm.Last modified on 2012-01-11 at 21:43

Yup, laziness on my part.

< report >Mini-update 2.22-12: Zebra striping of the tables is now done in CSS. To my knowledge, all modern browsers should support this, but I haven't tested IE due to lack of an up-to-date windows PC. The only noticable change here is that post coloring in threads is the reverse of what it used to be, and the character-info-table now starts with a special-colored heading.

Yorhel, after you had NSFWing my nipple pic in v9607.3 while I was still editing tags in the same VN I get now an 500 internal server error instead of my notifies.
Could you fix this somehow?

BTW do you have some code which searches for nipples??? ^^ You were awesomely fast with finding this tiny bits behind the underwear ...Last modified on 2012-01-25 at 15:03
