https://dekirutranslations.wordpress.com <- invalidAs a general guideline, if you copy-paste the URL from your browser's location bar, you should have a URL without minor issues like these. VNDB tends to be a bit more strict than browsers. :)

Actually this is pretty serious. A lot of pages, even ones I didn't edit are affected.
I suppose this would not be a minor thing. I suggest people refrain editing or deleting producer entries at this point. I fixed some pages but if whatever caused this gets reversed modified entries may get screwed up again.Last modified on 2016-01-18 at 21:16

< report >For the new more/less cutoff on the character summary it should probably cut off at exactly 2 or 3 rows of character entries. Right now it's at like 2 1/2 where you can see the names but not the va's on the third row of entries and on games where there are only 3 rows it doesn't really save any space. example - Kurayami no Hate de Kimi o Matsu

In 1024x768, VN entry, the table class=stripe is too large.I wasn't kidding.
Btw, you should put a min-width because I don't know if you tried to do a responsive design but I am curious to see how vndb looks like on some tight mobile viewports.

For the new more/less cutoff on the character summary it should probably cut off at exactly 2 or 3 rows of character entries.Meh, I simplified the code a bit too much and based the cutoff on pixels. I'm not entirely sure how I can even fix the cutoff to be based on rows without some really ugly trickery.
In 1024x768, VN entry, the table class=stripe is too large.I'm aware. And VNDB is quite a nightmare to use on mobile phones. Luckily Firefox on Android (the only one I've tested) realizes that VNDB wasn't made for mobile use and uses a pretty large viewport and then scales down the entire page. So it doesn't look very screwed up, but it isn't really usable either.
I've been contemplating a large (responsive) redesign for a while and researched a few ideas on how to implement it. But I'm a really terrible front-end web dev, and I find it hard to get motivated to separately test and fix so many pages in so many ways. I'm allergic to software complexity, and it seems that the only way to create good user interfaces is to multiply your code's complexity by a factor 10. :(
Not to mention that I have no idea how to even modify VNDB's design to work well on mobile.
Anyway, my pointless ranting aside, a min-width should be alright I guess.Last modified on 2016-01-24 at 10:46

< report >My 2¢:
If you don't want to work a lot on a full redesign -I understand why-, you can still use media queries for, let says, <1000w (like it breaks somewhere here).
Here, what they usually do is to reorganize your page with the main menu at the top, profile menu in a drop down button on the right, the search bar below. Then you need the content of your id="maincontent" to take place in one column. To take VN entries as an example, you put the picture at the top and the table below, you make each release fit in two lines (date + rating + link - title); staff & char, it's easy; user stats = vote stat box above recent vote above ranking; pictures, as it is.
Edit: I forgot the tags. Make them hidden by default and maybe a little dropdown menu near the 3 categories for spoiler level/summary-all.
You might need to rework your semantic to be more modular, think how to properly shorten some things like "relations". It will suffer from the never-ending page syndrome (then you can add discreet nav link to go up/down faster - think about duplicating your main menu in the footer) but it will be better than a broken website to mobile and it won't be too painful to put in place (nah, it will be painful like it's CSS).
You are supposed to respect some rules like make the links big enough to be clickable with the thumb but I will redirect you to books like Mobile First by Luke Wroblewski.
If you don't want to do that, besides the min-width, I would suggest to work on something of the todo list:
The main font is too small. Some people like it this way, others find it unbearable to read...I personally use an additional CSS because I just can't read the discussion boards.

< report >Thanks for the feedback, though what you're saying is not exactly new to me. :)
I already looked into most of the stuff you suggested and generally feel that VNDB should just have a complete front-end makeover. And the more I'm considering that, the more I realize that I definitely don't want to be the one doing it. I'm not a front-end dev and a complete redesign is a waay too large project. Even incremental improvements to eventually end up with a better mobile experience will be far too front-end dev much work for me. We definitely need help from someone who has both more experience in this field and who would enjoy doing a large VNDB make-over.
On another note:
In 1024x768, VN entry, the table class=stripe is too large.Currently experimenting with a fix, the table will move below the image if the window is too small. It doesn't look very sexy, however.
