VNDB 2.7: Translating the wrong game

So here it is, VNDB 2.7. If everything went according to my plan, this update would have been finished three weeks ago and would have included producer relations and differentiation between developers and publishers. But of course things had to work out differently.

Anyway, changes:

- Russian interface translation
Currently only the major part of the interface has been translated. FAQ/about/guidelines are still in the works, and some parts (VN relations, media, resolutions, and anything in javascript) can't be translated at the moment. This will likely be fixed in a later update. Also note that even if the interface is available in multiple languages, the database (and the discussion board) are still strictly in English. Later updates may introduce multilanguage tags and/or VN descriptions, but for now we'll keep it at the interface.
Translations into other languages are very much welcome, if you want to translate VNDB into your own language, please contact me using the email on the bottom of this page. Keep in mind, however, that this is not just a one-time translation. Further VNDB updates require the translation to be synchronised as well, and while this is shouldn't take much time (about an hour per month), I do expect translators to be somewhat responsive and reliable.

- Some changes in the visual novel relations
Removed: Summary / Full story / Other
Added: Same series / fandisc / original game
Renamed: "Same characters" to "Shares characters"
Merged: Alternative setting into Alternative version
All relations that were previously specified as having an "Other" relation have been changed into "Same series".
Some of these changes may have resulted in incorrect relations for some entries, if you find one: please fix.

- Blacklisting of users from the vote statistics (will be used scarcely, but seems to be necessary for some people)
- New platforms: DOS, PC-98, Sega Saturn
- Random VN link in the main menu
- Some format fields are ignored when the patch flag is enabled for releases
- All downloadable trials in the DB now have their freeware status set
- Empty VN descriptions are allowed
- Various minor layout improvements

You forgot the Quick reply feature...or did we already have that one and did you add advanced reply?Last modified on 2009-09-24 at 16:18

The full reply mode has been added, but that was nothing more than a single button to the full reply page that has always existed before (/t[id]/reply) - so I consider that a part of "Various minor layout improvements".

You can remove your own vote for a tag by voting a '-' (selecting the middle box), but the tag won't be removed as long as other people have voted for it as well. For those cases you can just downvote.
