Inaccurate Translations

#23 JAST licensed Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi., which you'll never convince me wasn't a decision made for purely monetary reasons. They also licensed Princess X ~Boku no Iinazuke wa Monsterkko!?~, which seems also to be a horribly misguided attempt at demographic pandering. It seems they've just stopped listening to fan demand; with the curious exception of JAST Blue. Muramasa seems to still be a distant dream...
Nearly every licensing decision made by every localization company is made for "monetary reasons." And there has been a large amount of desire expressed for a Totono translation within the community.

Evenicle received some criticism, mostly from 4chan, due to incessant and unnecessary use of contractions.
Oh no, not contractions.

#26 Totono isn't anywhere near the most requested Nitro+ game though, even if we discount the yaoi games. And perhaps I wasn't clear; "pure monetary reasons" means "misguided executive fuckery". Totono was moved up the translation ladder because some suit saw that DDLC was doing well and decided that delivering on their promises is much less important than cashing in on the big fad.

The simple presence of contractions wasn't the problem; it was the fact that the translator invented hundreds of nonstandard contractions for seemingly no reason. I don't personally care, but I can see it getting a bit grating after a while.

This is not something I've noticed in like 30 hours of playing Evenicle. Not saying they're not there, but if they are, they didn't stick out or feel unnatural enough to give me pause.Last modified on 2018-07-24 at 00:56

These aren't necessarily invented, but they are nonstandard and don't serve any point in the game.

Again, it's not something I have an issue with, but I saw some complaints about it.

That's actually pretty common in English speech, but rarely seen in writing. Looks like the editor was trying to give these characters a more "homey" feel.

Uh, right. Licensing decisions at JAST aren't made by highly-paid executives in expensive suits; they're the people you see at conventions swiping credit cards at the booth. It's possible Nitroplus decides what projects to prioritize, but in that case it's out of JAST's hands.Last modified on 2018-07-24 at 03:13

I'm still not entirely sure about the Princess X...thing, but it's almost certain that Nitro+ is at the very least responsible for the Django/Sumaga situation, and the suits I was referring to were indeed Nitro+ executives, not JAST employees. That said, the fact remains that it doesn't seem like JAST is really that concerned about the situation, and if there's enough communication between the corporations to pressure one into licensing a specific title, there should be enough to convince the other to fix their game engine. I know that N+ has other priorities, but it seems like a very one sided relationship both in terms of communication and what one is giving to the other.

According to some reports, there's a Rape scene cut from Schatten.
Anyone care to confirm?
Edit: confirmed. Editing my previous post accordingly.Last modified on 2018-07-24 at 22:31

Off by 17 days.
People forgot about this thread already? Really?
Anyway, remind me again what were the bad translations of this year.
I'm guessing Sakuragame will be the prime suspect as usual, seeing how they're still alive.
