Since it's getting an official english release, can anyone tell me how the anime for Majikoi is? I know it's an original story, but can anyone tell me if it's a decent show or does this belong in the same category as the Tsukihime anime...which doesn't exist, lolLast modified on 2012-08-26 at 04:01

Game's way way better. Ideally you should just read the game and forget about the anime. It's nowhere near the monstrosity as Tsuki, but they managed to take such epic and varied source material and butcher it.

Here's my suggestions based on different possibilities.

1. If you haven't read the novel, you'll probably think the anime is absolutely hilarious and great.
2. If you have read the novel, you'll probably hate the anime for butchering the characters and turning everything into a generic harem anime.
3. If you are an extreme Majikoi fan that would buy anything Majikoi related, you'll probably like the anime simply because you are blinded by your extreme fanboyism.

The ending is a huge slap in the face. Sure it was initially funny, but after your laugh ends you'll get pissed because it was a huge cop out. Plus the plot for the second half of the series was nowhere near the level of any of the routes in the game. They also changed some (all?) the heroine's personalities for the worse.

The reviews I've seen all mostly lean towards my opinion on the matter. If you haven't read the novel, go ahead and watch the anime first. Then go read the novel.Last modified on 2012-08-26 at 04:35

Yeah I watched a little bit of the anime and a little of the endings and well so far it has nothing to do with the story. So IMO the VN is far better.....
Accualy I was just looking for the "war part".
Does anyone know what episode that is? (If there is one?) Momoyo's route.

So overall the anime is ' loosely' based on the game?

Sounds about right.

I saw the anime. It seemed to me so much disgusting that I wanted to scream. Kilotons of fan service, stupid harem and so on. Should I try to play this vn, what do you think?

I'm currently playing Yukie's route and from what I've seen so far there's nothing harem-ish about it. The common route does a good job in building up the basics for a relationship to start with any of the heroines and from there you pick which girl to interact with until the main part of her route starts.
Edit: In other words, play it.Last modified on 2012-08-26 at 17:15

@luckyscamp
The first half, yes. The second half? Not really, beyond having the same characters.

@silence
Yes. Everything you hated about the anime isn't a part of the VN.

Yeah so I watched part of it and the last epsiode and does any of that happen in this VN? I ment world war 3? or the war at the end?[spoiler]
Is it the true route?

Agave route (aka the "true" route) has nothing of the sort. It's darker and more serious than the heroine routes, though. Anyhow, the anime follows a different plotline than any of the VN routes.

Wow, that sucks. I watched the end of it and it pissed me off why would someone choose hermit crabs over 5 hot chicks????????[spoiler]

There is a hermit crab joke end in the VN, though. Go home everyday instead of talking to any of the characters. You'll get the hermit crab end. And yeah, it's translated as well.

That's why I specifically said not to watch the anime if you read the novel.Last modified on 2012-08-31 at 01:19

I only watched like parts of 4 epsiodes I didn't bother to watch the whole series. I was looking for the war in Momoyo's route, I thought I saw it somewhere....[spoiler]

Yeah the Kawakami war from Momoyo's route is episode one.

As far as the anime to VN comparison while i feel it lacked some of the traits characters had and did in fact decide on being stupid harem nonsense I actually enjoyed it. The trick is to not compare the two and just enjoy what it does right. That said anime is a much better medium for the fights.

The VN is far, far, far superior to the anime, the ending blew hard to and of course much shorter.

The anime is horrible compared to the VN even for the fights.

So if I watch the anime after playing the currently translated routes, will I spoil anything?

Sure it was initially funny
I think anime was good when it did't try to look serious and convey "plot". Kinda made me think they were better off making it fanservice show till the end. No, seriously.

^ I actually have to agree with that for a change. They should have removed all the fights and replace them with more PLOT, if you know what I mean. ;)

Well, 1st episode was... I can't even tell what it was, really) I didn't know anything about Maji de Watashi before i started to watch it. So reaction was: "Who are these people and what the heck are they doing?" It was funny though) Now, when i completed this event into VN (it was awesome i guess), i can understand what was going on, but then... I didn't understand anything)) And yes, i also agree that anime was good and funny, but VN is better. That was always been. Each character is shown more into VN. Sorry for my English, it's not perfect yet.
