#1575 Don't worry barfboy, you will not be banished for so little XD
I think that all the users who actively participate in the embellishment of VNDB are not full of bad intentions, the written messages can sometimes appear "violent" or "aggressive" but everybody has it that it is not the first intention. Personally I add smiley to show that I'm not aggressive, I'm not a native english speaker and I structure my sentences in relation to my native language and it may seem aggressive in english even if it's not is not my intention.
But it's nice to apologize, you show maturity despite all of this is being right behind a screen and it inspires me respect toward you, it's very honorable.Last modified on 2018-12-09 at 15:01

If a male character has been with a woman in the past but through the duration of the game only has sex with the male protagonist, does this character get tagged as "men with men sex" or "men with men sex only"?

I think you can put Bisexual and Men with Men Sex Only if the character has sex with men only during the vn.
If someday a sequel (or a prequel) is made where he has sex with a girl, you would created a 2nd instance of the character where you put some other traits.

Bisexual in conjunction with Men with Men Sex Only.
Men with Men Sex Only only describes the sexual acts within the VN, nothing else. It's irrelevant whether the character is gay, bisexual, but in a monogamous relationship with a male character or heterosexual, but gets raped by other men in, let's say, a prison setting.

I don't think that's a good idea. It makes the bisexual trait basically useless for finding characters who actually identify as bisexual. Speaking about yaoi games in particular, "attracted to both men and women" is a notable trait worth pointing out, whereas "straight dude who has sex with men because the plot says so" is basically the norm, and your solution throws all of that into the same category.

^ I apply the same logic as for Orito Riru from Harukoi ＊ Otome ~Otome no Sono de Gokigen'you.~.
Protag. thinks she's "Lesbian" at first because she loves Matsubara Reika but he (and Riru) discovers that she is in reality Bisexual because she fells in love with him.
So here she's Bisexual but has only sex with protag., a man. After, you apply the same logic for all cases that are similar.
The character traits of personnality are inherited from one VN to another because it is something fixed that can sometimes evolve with time.
The sexual traits are necessarily related to a VN and not necessarily valids in a prequel or a sequel.
For example Yuuki Isamu, he has Virgin Sex with his older sister Rin in the first game, do this trait is always good for the sequel? No (I will take care of making a second instance of these two characters when I would have started and finished this game by the way). Does he stills a Siscon? Yes, I let it.
Tell me if you haven't understand the logic, I will try to explain it to you more clearly (or I'll let somebody else doing the job ^^')Last modified on 2018-12-09 at 16:46

I'm not familiar with that particular case (Harukoi Otome), but I'd tag it differently depending on whether she describes herself as bisexual or as "lesbian with one exception."
EDIT: But I've said this before when this topic has come up, there's a reason we have separate traits for Homosexual and Men with Men Sex/Lesbian Sex, because they describe different things. Same goes for Bisexual.Last modified on 2018-12-09 at 16:51

"Homosexuality is romantic and/or sexual attraction between members of the same gender."
"Bisexuality is sexual behavior or an orientation involving physical or romantic attraction to both males and females, especially with regard to men and women."
Def. are absolute, so even if his/her love for one member of the opposite sex is an exception, you have to use the trait Bisexual.
On the other hand, if the character's sexual orientation is a major issue in the story (like for Orito Riru), you can combine the two traits with a different level of spoiler.Last modified on 2018-12-09 at 16:54

#1582 Quite to pass for a homophobe (which I am not), the most "normal" sex is between a man and a woman because it's reproductive, it's the norm (or you would not be born). We're not going to add a "heterosexual sex" trait just to say that a Bisexual has sex with a member of the opposite sex x)
The existing traits are enough, if I want to find a bisexual girl who makes love to a girl, I put in my research "bisexual" and "Lesbian Sex". Even better, if I want a bisexual who makes love to girls only, I put in my research "bisexual" and "Lesbian Sex Only".Last modified on 2018-12-09 at 17:22

Pregnancy (by other) - I'm fine with this trait, but it kinda needs a better name to make the consensual part crystal clear, otherwise this will be misused to hell and back and Consensual Out-of-relationship Pregnancy seems too much of a mouthful...The same. I basically didn't approve the trait, because I don't like the name and cannot think of a better one.
Geminus - So, first of all, this is not a child trait for Alter Ego. The entire point of Alter Ego is that we have two personalities in one body, voluntarily or not. This is two, non-related people looking more or less the exact same. Secondarily, Geminus is a weird name. Googling it I found nothing of this phenomenon. So it probably needs a better name. When I hear "Geminus", I think of Amie Kaufman's book (a very recommended read, by the way), which incidentally deals with the concept of a parallel universe double. As for the trait, I don't like the name. Latin or not, it's horribly uninformative. Why don't we go north of Rome and try German for a change. The trait has been rejected before (Doppelgänger), but it was because the submitter used the D&D definition of the term, rather than the pop-culture one. In most modern fantasy fiction Doppelgänger means a double of the person, as in the case of literal split personality or alternate universe self. Seems fitting.
Damaged Hymen - Well, this is a lot more applicable than the submitter's previous dumpster fire attempts with traits like Technical Virgin. I'm still not quite sure if we actually need it though. Also, putting it under both Not a Virgin and Virgin Sex is just... wrong. While much better than all other trash in the similar vein, I wonder how many characters it would apply to. I don't know of any heroines who have lost their hymen to physical activity (like riding or athletics). The only possibly viable version is the loss of hymen to masturbation, which I gather there must be some characters this applies to. But, do we really really need it, because I imagine the only VNs where this will come in play will be nukiges to start with and no one cares about the status of a girl's hymen in a nukige?
Weak to Alcohol - I dunno, I can see this being a thing, but... it seems ill fitting under Features. But I'm not sure where else to put it then...While it doesn't seem to be well fitted under 'Features', I also have no idea where else to stuff it. Under Drinking?
Imouto Complex, Otouto Complex & Pedophile - Oh, boy, here we go again. So lolicon, shotacon and the likes have been discussed, discarded and so on to death over the years. It's not a simple oversight that we don't have those traits. In fact, there was a long discussion over them years back: t6225. As you might have guessed, that went absolutely nowhere in the end and we kinda just... didn't add any such traits. This is one dumpster fire I don't want to touch. So much things can go wrong if they are approved and that doesn't even take into account that I have no idea how to tinker up a fitting description for those - the current ones just do not seem to work. I leave those at your discretion, Warfoki.Last modified on 2018-12-10 at 21:01

Guys, do you think that a "Female Bukkake" is a good idea? Because I noticed that when the girls characters squirts while their boyfriend (or girlfriend) do oral sex, this is (somehow) a facial with female fluids.
Except that I confess that personally, I do not really know how to name such a trait, or make a "good" definition or even judge if it would be really useful or not.

Question: Just remember finding a few characters in the database with Curtained bangs, but noticed a few of them only have half the bangs on one side of their head, and no bangs on the other.
And, with additional bang traits not being accepted at the moment, how do you think I should identify the "Half-curtained" hairstyle? Should I just tag both the said trait and the No Bangs trait, both?
