< report >cheap VN producers such as Atelier Sakura and Appetite literally reuse their own soundtracks for all of their games. does this mean the tag applies for all of their VN? if so, then damn we have a lot of work to do.

I think we should either have a separate tag for this or revise the description. saying the soundtrack as non-original is incorrect since the producer is actually own the music, but they cannot be called as original either since it's not unique to a VN.Last modified on 2020-09-14 at 17:31

< report >As discussed in t11757, Bishoujo Game serves a very important function, and as such it should either be reinstated or an alternative tag that also covers its key feature of split routes distinguished by differing romance should be added.

In addition to the arguments there, although Linear Plot, No Hero(in)es, and No Romance Plot exist and each cover a large amount of non-galge VNs, their coverage both has spotty overlap and isn't full-proof, excluding VNs such as Tsukihime Plus-Disc, I/O, Corpse Party BloodCovered, Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~, Kara no Shoujo - The Second Episode, and Kyokugen Dasshutsu ADV - Zennin Shibou Desu. It's also extremely cumbersome to search through each of the three tags independently.

< report >I'm not sure if there is a dedicated thread for troll tagging and I am also not totally sure on what is recommended in this scenario (the guidelines are a bit vague), so here goes:

I've seen many tags in VNs with sexual content, where there is a single scene with said content and users have tagged it with score of 2.

According to the guidelines (pasted below), I think the score for such similar scenarios should be 1.

1: The tag does apply to the visual novel, but is not too apparent or only plays a minor role.
2: The tag certainly applies to the visual novel.

Am I mistaken here?
If people are consistently tagging incorrectly, is there a thread to report them (or should I send a friendly message)?Last modified on 2020-09-24 at 01:50

< report >Not trolling, just lazy. The default value for a tag is 2, you actively have to change it to vote 1 or 3, many people just don't bother.

< report >Correct me if I'm wrong but since we already have fields for relations, shouldn't the mods made most tags from this parent category non-applicable? Or maybe delete some of them?Last modified on 2020-09-24 at 13:18

< report >Just vote it down a bit yourself and it'll drift down to a more correct setting over time. THough it's slightly harder to do this now that negative votes are more restricted iirc.

It's common when people are first adding a tag to something to stick with the default especially if they're not really sure of how important something is, just that it's present.

< report >I think -3 is to be used when it is not present in the game or when the tag is no longer in use, not to even out the vote.
Death Note, Dragon Quest, Evangelion, and whatever else #2406 downvoted, are still valid tags and voting Death Note -3 on something which has the two main Death Note characters on the cover page is the troll tag.
EDIT: And #2404, if something is the main focus of a dedicated HCG then I'd argue that it's not a minor role. I suppose it heavily depends on how many total HCG are in the game.Last modified on 2020-09-24 at 14:43

< report >You can't search by specific anime relations only if a game has one or not. So those tags are still valid and shouldn't be downvoted.

Actually you can, but not through VNDB's current UI. link

< report >Some messy grammar in future forecasting
The protagonist or a character in this game, through scientific techniques or his/her own ability, can foresees events in the future and tries many attemps to stop or change the outcome of that events.
Make that:
The protagonist or a character in this game, through scientific techniques or his/her own ability, can foresee future events and tries to stop or change the outcome of said events.

< report >about Future Forecasting, the story doesn't need to about preventing or changing the future, some may even try to realize / follow the prophecy. perhaps the description should be revised according to that.Last modified on 2020-10-08 at 01:55

< report >How about a tag for subaquatic settings? Confinement seems too vague for this. That would link titles like Ever17 and デイグラシアの羅針盤 (ok, at least two entries).

< report >Butterfly is a very common position as shown by its trait. Can we get a tag for it? Currently there's only a tag for its child trait Seventh Posture. I suppose it's as simple as copying the description of the trait.

< report >Based on a Web Novel has been rejected with the following reasoning:
Manga and Light Novel have significant differences, thus it makes sense for them to have child tags. Web Novel is just a novel that is published online, usually in a serialized form. I don't think there is much reason to split it off from the parent tag.
I enjoy reading web novels and visual novels (duh), so finding web novels that have VN adaptation interests me and it's customary to split light novels and web novels apart (see Novel Updates for example). Plus, making the split has no downside that I can see. So please reconsider.

Is it really necessary to have Widower Protagonist AND Widow(er) Protagonist?
Oops? That shouldn't have happened.

Butterfly is a very common position as shown by its trait. Can we get a tag for it?
I didn't even realize that not all sexual traits are represented in tags. That said, I'm not sure if we need to expand so much for the tags. I mean, tominagi also does not have a tag. Maybe renaming the Seventh Posture tag to Butterfly and using it for all of the child tags too would be a more elegant solution... Need to think about this.

How about a tag for subaquatic settings?
I suppose it can be created. I'm kinda surprised we didn't have one.

Some messy grammar in future forecasting
Done. Included the Naiohoras' suggestion.

P.S. Also approved Rampaa's Web Novel tag.Last modified on 2020-10-10 at 12:06
