For a given character, are being a hero/heroine and a support character mutually exclusive?Well, yes, and yes, I believe there is plenty of misuse. However, the most egregious amounts of misuse are not between hero(ine) and the support characters, but rather between hero(ine) and the protagonist. Many new users to the DB confuse the terms and think that the character whose eyes we are seeing through is the hero, and thus apply the tags incorrectly.
It used to be especially prevalent back during the early years of the db, less so now, but I believe there are still plenty of leftovers from that time.
That said, adding "Please don't confuse hero(ine), protagonist and the support character" to every character tag is a useless sisyphean endeavour. There will always be a certain degree of misuse, but I don't believe this particular brand of misuse is too prevalent in order to take any drastic measures.

no common sense heroine
Would it be possible to have this for protagonists and hero's as well? Not sure how much use we can get out of it, but you could say the same thing for the heroine tag as well. So why not make three of those to have equivalent tags for all cases?Last modified on 2020-11-28 at 10:01

< report >The "Seme Protagonist" tag is described as less common than the Uke protagonist. Yet, when looking at the actual database, there are 152 entries under Seme Protagonist, and just 130 under Uke Protagonist. So the description seems contradictory with reality.

< report >I can see that Delusion tag is very often mixed with Daydreams - and generally both are applied. However for vns like Iwaihime or Chaos;Head Daydreams is more appropriate tag. Delusion is used for games with any illusions, hallucinations or fantasies in them - despite that delusions has nothing to do with any visual scenes. It should be more common with Chuunibyou Protagonist tag or some religious dogmas like in Rei-Jin-G-Lu-P or some characters paranoia like in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - i.e. delusion is internal belief of a person in some false ideas - whereas vndb users thinks it's some kind of hallucinations. I think somehing should be done about it since extent of mistagging becomes ridiculously high - to a degree when basically Delusion is just a clone of Daydreams.Last modified on 2020-11-29 at 22:58

< report >Brief Third-person Narrative Sections's description should be changed. Currently it is "This tag covers games that are mostly in first-person perspective, but have some scenes in third-person perspective", which leaves out games that have
1. Second-person perspective with brief third-person narration
2. No narration during most of the game with brief third-person narration for specific parts
Perhaps "This tag covers games that are mostly in a different perspective, but have some scenes in third-person perspective. These scenes are often enough to take a notice but still they don't make one third of the game."

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Okay, as I was writing out a reply I realize Island is explained Island So like Sister Princess or D.C. ~Da Capo~ or Chicchakunai Mon! ~School Bus de Omukae Chu Chu♥~ except with the qualifier that it's 'near future' like Natsuiro Kokoro Log
All Japan is an island so I was questioning my sanity. Now I get it.

< report >#2437: Would you then say Island has sexual content in it? Even though it's an all ages VN that doesn't even contain any nudity in it? Even though people did mark it with No Sexual Content? I think most people would disagree with your opinion and seeing those VNs come up when they search for Sexual Content would be just misleading.Last modified on 2020-12-27 at 20:33

< report >My fault. I created the original trait for Mascot no Kurara-san
She has sex with most of the girls in Yumekoi ~Yume Miru Mahou Shoujo to Koi no Jumon~ but you never see any of it. The girls suffer from out of control sexual desire whenever they use their powers (it's one of those games I guess?) and she drags them into a room alone for sex then the scene changes to after. you never see any of it. So smut. Basically.

< report >Seems like there are both pros and cons for keeping Off Screen Sex Only under "Sexual Content". On one hand it sounds like in would constitute sexual content in certain cases where the game's focus is on that, on the other hand, there are probably games, where it's counterintuitive to have them in the search for "Sexual Content". Not sure what to do, or where to put that tag.

< report >Yeah it makes more sense as a trait because I can imagine someone looking at the character list for a game trying to figure out what H-scenes they have, and it therefore being useful to know that character X never has sex on-screen.
I'm just not sure why anyone would specifically search for a VN on the grounds of 'it's implied that characters have sex but you don't actually see it'. like, you specifically want a game that has never had any h-scenes in it, but you want to be reassured that the characters are definitely boinking when you're not looking?
how many non-H games could you definitively say that no one in the game is ever having sex off-screen?

< report >#2445 This is getting pretty tangled. The tag is for off screen sex ONLY, meaning there are no H-scenes in the VN, but the trait is for any off screen sex (or so it's implied from the description and used in practice). Just go through the list of characters who have the trait applied and you'll see most of them also have sex on screen at some point.

|< report >Playing Yandere Kanojo no H na Semarikata and one of the heroines says 'But we're not adults yet, we can't get married' in voiced dialog but there's no text (probably because the implication that the characters are not in fact 18 as advertised). Nevermind, found it. I realized maybe if I search 'voice' I could find if it existed and it does!
